The more wood furniture I see around blogland that has gotten a paint make-over the more I like painted wood. Most of my extended family and a lot of my friends practically break out in hives when I mention the words ‘wood’ and ‘paint’ in the same sentence 😀 But I LIKE painted wood! It brings out the details of the construction of the piece in such a wonderful way – a way you just don’t see when distracted by things like wood grain and stain!
This blog is called Sew a Fine Seam (like you hadn’t figured that out 😉 ). Because sewing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Because no matter what else I do I will always sew (as long as I am able anyway!). It’s a part of who I am! It’s how God created me and I rejoice to be able to use the talents He has given me. On Labor Day I decided I might as well do some labor 😉 So I dug out a chair and small table I had stashed away to be dealt with later. Later had come. I pulled out my Annie Sloan Chalk paint, waxes, and brushes and got to work.
Here is the chair before. Isn’t she just so lovely?? Not. I began my projects on the front porch. The mist that kept coming and going made me think I was in Ireland. The mist finally started coming down hard enough, and the breeze was just strong enough, it drove me and my projects inside to the dining room. Continue Reading…
A few weeks ago I went thrifting with The Teenager, one of her friends, and her friends Mom. I brought home a carload of cool finds. Several of the cool finds were furniture. Yesterday I painted some of it. I plan to blog about the furniture tomorrow. Today I have a project to share with you that is technically a wall but really doesn’t qualify as ‘wall painting’. No roller brush involved, no paint tray, no pole to attach to reach to the ceiling. Just a plastic cup to hold the paint and a natural bristle brush.
This past Saturday I text my Mom and asked if she wanted to come over and go with me to the shop that carried Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It worked for her so away we went. Then we headed to her house so I could get her painting done.
Blogger’s Block. It’s when a blogger doesn’t know what to blog about. I have just a touch of it tonight. Not that I don’t HAVE anything to blog about. Not that I don’t WANT to blog. I’m just too lazy to edit the photos! So I’m going to pull out some photos that I can get by without editing and call it good. Then I’m going to go curl up with my feather pillow and get some sleep!
