Happy Father’s Day, DAD!
Any man can become a Father.
It takes dedication, commitment, time, effort, sweat, tears, and lots of love to be a DAD.
Above one of the doors in the house we rented was a sign that said ‘Life is good – but better at the beach.
I so very much agree. I love the beach and could live there year round. There is just nothing like the waves rolling in forever. The salt air. The breeze off the water. The sand. The shells. Even the rain we had one morning was better at the beach.
A day set aside to remember just what our freedom has cost – the lives that have been lost, the sacrifices that have been made, the tears shed, the prayers ascended, every thing, big and little, that had gone into building this nation we proudly call our home. There are so many videos out there that show the heartache and sacrifice and love and dedication that so many men and women have given for OUR FREEDOM. And not just those who have served but those who love them and stay behind at home while they are off on deployment, defending the FREEDOM we love so much.
16 years ago today I was lying in a hospital bed, contentedly holding and gazing at my tiny, new daughter. Miss Emma Kate graced us with her appearance after putting her mother through more than 27 hours of labor. Funny how a mama completely forgets how exhausted she is and the pain she’s just been through when that baby is placed on her chest and those tiny eyes search out mama’s eyes and the cries calm just from mama’s presence
Are you ready for summer yet? You know I am! I’m never ready for cold weather – I really should live in a climate that is warm year round. I don’t, though, so I make the best of it. (most of the time)
Today I’m reminiscing a little – I posted yesterday that my 9 and 11 year old girls are on their way to Kansas with their Grandparents. And it made me think back to our last trip to Kansas. We went last summer – seems like a long time ago already. They had a lot of rain before we got there so the creek beside my sister’s house was up and flowing over the dirt road. All the kids, from the youngest to the teenagers played in the water – and the mud. They made some pretty cool Mud Hut Creations and I want to share them with you.
Happy Thanksgiving my friends.
I am thankful for so many things. My family, friends, my warm home, the wonderful meal we are having, so many more things.
I’ve been juggling my rapidly growing wholesale biz, decorating my home for Christmas, and keeping up with stuff at the store. I’ve been blessed this year and you, my friends, are a part of that blessing – thank you so much for coming by, for leaving me such sweet comments, and supporting me.
Trim Healthy Mama. Vitamin D. Thyroid issues. Essential oils. My journey to being healthy and feeling good.
Birthday Party Sleepover. Yes, you could say I’ve lost my mind. My tween began planning her birthday party sleepover weeks before the big day. While I was deeply immersed in the last two weeks of prep for the Summer Market at Avon Lake. While I was so distracted I didn’t have too many objections to what she was planning. And she proceeded to tell her friends what she was planning and that they were invited. How can a Mom ever say ‘no’ now??
We arrived home from Kansas Friday evening – and I spent a couple of hours cleaning my kitchen cupboards and my kitchen. Cause that is exactly what everyone feels like doing after riding in a car for over 15 hours. No I’m not crazy – we had ants like crazy. I was not impressed. They were in my powdered sugar. And in my sugar shaker I use for my coffee. And just running all over the place like they owned it. Which they do not. We only went on vacation, we did not move out. The place was not up for grabs or open to squatters. So I evicted those ants pronto. And even though cleaning my kitchen and cupboards wasn’t really what I had in mind to do when I arrived home I am enjoying the clean and organized cupboard. This was one of the very few times I’ve ever been thankful for a small kitchen with very few cupboards. (I didn’t have to clean them all just a couple.) (I did have to clean ALL the countertops – which are even fewer than the cupboards.)
