Once there was a little girl who had a red wool coat and muff. She wore it till she outgrew it, and then it was handed down to some of her cousins.
How about a little tutorial today? Are you up for that? If you don’t sew, you can just look at the finished product – it’s pretty cute 🙂
Olive Juice is one of my favorite places to buy kids clothes. Or I should say WAS one of my favs. My girls are getting a bit too old for most of it. While I still love it and the younger two could still wear it, for some reason they don’t love it like I do. I think there is some unwritten rule that if your Mom likes it you can’t 😀 Anyone tracking with me here??!!
My oldest daughter was our only daughter for 4 and a half years before her little sister came along. When I had birthday parties for her I went all out – planning weeks and sometimes a couple months in advance. I loved getting all the details in place and creating a fun party. Daughter number 2 had a few parties with all the details and daughter number 3 had a couple – well, maybe one! Somehow my stamina for getting all those fun details together waned as I got busier and had more kids to take care of.
This past weekend I was privileged to help out a friend who was putting together a fun, detailed birthday party for her little 1 year old. My friend had all the details and crafty fun made, the decor items gathered, and she just wanted a bit of help getting it all set up. I was delighted to help out – and I took my camera so I could share!!
I remember as a young girl the excitement of new clothes and shoes in the spring.
As a tween and young teen I agonized over what looked right and what was ‘in’.
With my little girls the question was ‘to make’ or to buy’. I’ve done both. Usually if I am making them I let it go right down to the wire and am madly finishing things up at the last-minute. I’ve made some elaborate dresses that involved smocking and tucking and used fine fabrics and I’ve gone the quick and simple route. Becca’s Easter dress last year was of the quick and simple variety.
A year ago I made these baby blankets for shower gifts. I found the idea for this blanket here. I absolutely LOVE the look, weight, and feel of how they turned out. This one was for a baby boy – his parents are from Africa! I added this bib to the gift. The biggest trick […]
The piece of fabric was delightfully printed with bright-colored hearts on a creamy background. It was a stretchy, textured, cozy knit and had all the potential to become something really grand. The fabric waited patiently to see what form it might take and what its life might look like. With the whimsical heart print it surely would lead a cheerful life – perhaps as a toy or accessory for some lovely little child. Even a cuddle blanket would be wonderful as the fabric was so soft and comfortable.
The only place I have been outside the United States was a weekend trip to Niagara Falls 16 years ago with 5 of my girlfriends. Traveling to places like England, France, Italy, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, or… Africa, seems unattainable to me. Just a dream. Oh, I’d love to travel someday, it just seems like an impossible dream right now.
The past couple of days I’ve been gone all day running a rather large rummage sale – or as we call it The Fall Children’s Clothing Sale. We had right at 50 people bring stuff this time – kids clothes(mainly brand name), toys, books, all kinds of baby items and we also have added household items. A friend and I organise and run the show – this past spring was the 7th year for it! We do this Spring and Fall – well, fall most of the time. We didn’t add the fall sale till a couple of years into it and we skipped it a couple of years ago. Fall isn’t ever as high in sales and … Continue Reading
I love ruffles! Especially the way they have appeared in the past couple of years. Ruffled tee’s, ruffled skirts, ruffled linen lounge pants, ruffled leggings, ruffled ribbon, ruffled fabric... it’s so much fun to use ruffles! You can see posts dealing with ruffles here, here and here. There are more – if you are interested type ‘ruffled’ into the search box in the sidebar of my blog!
Today I want to share a recent project for a client. I have a stash Continue reading…
Linen is my favorite fabric to work with these days. Vintage linen, fine quality new linen, linen blends. I also love ruffles – they are just so dressy and fun. You can add a ruffle to almost anything for a little touch of feminine bling. So when I received a message a couple of weeks […]
Linen is one of my top 3 favorite art mediums. And it IS an art medium. You might think of some sort of paint when you see the term ‘art medium’ or the title ‘artist’, but anyone who creates is an artist. The choice of medium is up to each individual artist. Anyway. I started […]
I recently put together a shower gift for a friend of mine. She is such a sweet friend – she is WAY younger than me – she probably thinks of me as ancient!! I helped out with a yearbook class she was part of, I made her wedding dress, we attend church together, we like […]
