Peonies, a Record Player, and a Very Affordable Canvas Print

Well Hello There!

It’s so good to chat with you again, and bring you a bit of a home decor post.  I have some fun things to share – peonies, a record player, and a very affordable canvas print.  And it’s all styled up and looking pretty in what used to be my work room in our house.  The room where all the creating and designing and sewing took place.  The room that was completely stuffed full of all the things I needed to make this business work.

My old work room is slowly being reclaimed as part of our home.  Very slowly as this year is crazy busy with transitioning the business to a new location and now going to work every day instead of working from home.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you know that I bought a building the end of December and the transition began!  We have worked hard this year, moving and creating an organized and efficient work space for the business.  The building I bought is in the same little town we live in, on the same street we live on, and I can be there in about 3 minutes or less.  It’s an old building – long and narrow and 3 stories tall.  It looks out onto the main street in town and is directly across from Subway – convenient right?!

We’ve created the front half of the main floor into a brick and mortar store front that is open once or twice a month for now.  We are working towards being open every Friday later this year.

It’s a dream come true but also a lot of hard work – anyone in business knows there is a ton of hard work behind the dreamy scenes 🙂

So now that my old work room can become part of our home again, we are back to calling it the ‘den’, which is what the previous owners called it when we looked at the house 21 years ago.

It’s a work in progress but I have a vision for it and it’s going to be amazing 🙂

My oldest daughter is now 19, and she has become a bit obsessed with wanting a record player.  She had searched for them online, looking for one in a cute, mid-century cabinet that she could restore.  She’s searched thrift shops, antique shops, and garage sales.  She’s considered buying restored record players she’s seen on ebay.

Recently our little home town had their city-wide garage sales.  I went around town all morning on Thursday of the sales and then picked Emma up at work at noon and took her to a few over her lunch break.  The last one I stopped at for her was one I’d already been to but thought she should check out.  I waited in the car and when she came back she was carrying this record player.  She was so thrilled!  She actually has had a record on pre-order for months from her favorite artist and it was coming down to the time it should be delivered so this was perfect timing!

The cabinet the record player is sitting on is an old sewing machine cabinet my daughter found at a thrift shop several months ago for $10.

The record player looks amazing on it!  And it plays the record beautifully – yes, the record arrived this week.

The lovely white peonies are from a friends flower farm – Consider the Lilies

And this beautiful canvas print.  This is one of my own photos from a few years ago, printed on a wrapped canvas.  I’m so happy with how it turned out.  When Canvas on the Cheap contacted me and asked if I wanted one to share with all of you I was happy to say yes.  For years I’ve had on my to-do list the idea to have some of my photos printed as wall art pieces.  This was a fun way to try one out and see how I liked it in a canvas print.  My print is 16×20 and I really like it.

If you have photos you’d like to have printed on canvases I would recommend you try out Canvas on the Cheap – their prices are very affordable and the quality is great.  And let me know what you think when you get your prints and share a photo of your print too!

Have a great day my friends, it was so nice to be back chatting with you again!

Jill
