Last week I shared my dining room all decked out for Christmas along with a little tale about a little girl who loved Christmas very, very much.
Today I’m bringing you more Christmas Decor – the Living Room. I’m down to basically these two rooms to decorate. The ‘little’ business I am running has taken over and it’s a struggle to even get these two rooms presentable at the same time! 😀 So if you see a stray thread or pair of scissors or a computer peeking out of the corner it’s all because a business is being run in this house – and if you wonder why you don’t see some rooms you might have seen in the past, just know they are a complete pile of ‘stuff’ and you really don’t wanna see them 😀
(actually I have a keeping it real post planned for early in the new year just to show you that just beyond the borders of all the pretty shots is real life!)
A lot of red plaid found its way into my decor this year. I bought blanket scarves like a madwoman as soon as they hit the shelf this fall. I love them so much! I have yet to actually wear one as a scarf and I’m not sure If I will get around to that or not. They are rather large and I feel a bit overwhelmed when trying to wear one around my neck.
But they make the best blanket to wrap around your shoulders while watching tv or blogging or just reading a book. And they look amazing tossed on the sofa like a blanket.
I also picked up a couple plaid scarves at thrift shops and they managed to sneak into the decor too.
My beloved deer pillow – purchased a couple years ago from Craftberry Bush.
I found a vintage white tree this year and I love it! It’s such a lovely, creamy white and there is plenty of room under if for gifts. It’s a perfect size for our living room too.
Pom-pom wreath from Jo-anns. When I saw it a few weeks ago marked 60% off I couldn’t resist. I had not extra time to make one and I figured for the price I could hardly buy the yarn. I still want to make my own someday though – just so I can say ‘I made it’.
My glittery moose is still a fav after years of tucking him in here and there every Christmas. This year he came out of storage with an antler detached. A bit of hot glue fixed him right up and I really hope he’s good for quite a few more years.
My dear pre-teen – she looked so cute and festive in her red and black plaid I asked her to be part of my Christmas decor staging.
My ‘mantel’. Someday I really want a real fireplace with a real mantel. But for now my 12 ft. shelf does the job.
My pre-teen is an amazing artist. She drew a Christmas tree for me – I’ll share it and the deer pic she did soon.
I decked out my faux deer head this year with some greenery and a gold crown ornament I found at Target. My teenager added the ‘Merry Christmas’.
Take time this year to relax a bit. Ponder the true meaning of Christmas – the babe in the manger. And beyond the manger to the real reason He came – so die and come to life again – conquering death – and save us for all eternity.
Praise His Name!
In all your vast concerns in life,
In all your busy toil,
Be sure that you forget not God,
Who gives to you your all.
In all the gift giving, food making, feasting, laughter, memory-making, love, games, and traditions remember God created, God cared, God loved, God sent, God came, God redeemed.
God Bless us every one. -tiny Tim
