Good Morning and Happy Friday! I love weekends, don’t you? Somehow Friday morning just feels more relaxing to me even if I have a ton to do and a packed full weekend – it’s a mind thing I suppose but I’ll take it 🙂
Today I want to share my Test Tubes and Bedspring Flower Vase with you. I’ve used old bedsprings before in decor as vases, using a clay pot to hold the plant and tucking it into the spring. Â This time I had some vintage test tubes on hand so when I saw this idea on pinterest I decided to make a few.
We have plenty of scrap wood laying around so my hubby grabbed a board and cut it up into squares. Â I sanded them down, rounded the edges a bit, painted them white, and then sanded them a bit more to distress them.
The test tubes were a fun find at a school sale.
We used an air staple gun to fasten the bedsprings to the wood blocks.
The test tubes are just dropped in and rest loosely in the spring. Â This way the tube can be removed to fill with water before popping some fresh flowers into the ‘vase’.
You could hot glue the test tubes onto the wood if you wanted them to be secure. Â I prefer them loose so I can easily fill them with water and then place them back in the spring holder. Â Also, I can move the test tubes around if need be to display the flowers to their best advantage.
I’d been hoarding these test tubes for a bit, just waiting to use them in a fun project. Â This one was a fun one indeed! Â I love how they turned out and it was super simple.
What fun, simple projects have you done this summer?
Jill
Simply adorable! Love it! I love flowers in clear glass containers!
Me too! I have quite a few clear glass pieces I like to use for flowers.
You always have such wonderful ideas and some are pretty simple, like this one! I am inspired by your works, but I still have not done any I can be proud of this summer, which is whizzing right past me here! Still, I just love seeing all the different and varied creative projects you come up with and enjoying every bit of them! BTW, where did you get the wonderful silver urn in your photos in this post!? I am loving it, especially filled with the lovely hydrangeas! Also, can’t wait ’til you list those lovely wood signs “milk and cream” in your shop that you showed yesterday!
Thanks Maria! the large urn is from Home Goods about a year ago.
