Memorial Day.
A day set aside to remember just what our freedom has cost – the lives that have been lost, the sacrifices that have been made, the tears shed, the prayers ascended, every thing, big and little, that had gone into building this nation we proudly call our home. There are so many videos out there that show the heartache and sacrifice and love and dedication that so many men and women have given for OUR FREEDOM. And not just those who have served but those who love them and stay behind at home while they are off on deployment, defending the FREEDOM we love so much.
I give my heartfelt thanks, gratitude and support to those men and women in uniform, their families and friends, and to the families and friends of our fallen heros.
I also want to ask you to look back farther. Back to the beginning of time and remember all the Memorials God gave us, all the Memorials God had His people set up as reminders to them and their descendants. Reminders of His love and provision. And let’s also turn our minds towards what we are leaving as Memorials for our children. What will they look at in the years to come that will remind them of what we believed and what we stood for?
Have a blessed Memorial Day. Praise God for His care and love for us. Feel deeply the appreciation for those who have given their lives so our Country can be free. Thank those around you who are an active part of keeping this Nation free. Pray for our leaders that they will turn back to God. Bless your family. Be safe.
Jill

The sermon sounds wonderful! Does your church post sermons on its webpage? If not, do you think the pastor would share a copy of it? I would so like to hear/read it. Thanks.
Amen!
So what did your family do on the weekend? There are still many people that are having hard time financially that can’t do anything.
What a very nice post you made Jill. Too many of us tend to forget in the fun of the holiday what it’s really about. When I go to VA hospital with hubs I see so many young men and women that have lost limbs or are having a hard time with PTSD.
Not too long ago my second cousin that lives in PA kept a petition going for anybody that wanted to sign to get help for our service people to get the much needed mental/emotional help they need so badly.
I read a book few months ago about what it was like for a female chopper pilot that was shot down rescuing people shot by insurgents. She was hurt very badly and lost one of her legs due to the crash, her best friend died after months of suffering terribly. The petition got thru and something was supposed to be done for our service people that suffer so badly with PTSD. The woman in book also suffered with it terribly and she is a wife and Mother. Wish I remembered name of book. I cried a few times reading that book, felt so ashamed that nothing was being done to help those veterans, they were denied help because nobody had looked into what was happening to them. The mental damage so many have suffered being in Iraq, Afghanistan, it’s sinful.
My cousin, (2nd. cousin on my Dad’s side) was in Army for many years, she had worked here in Grand Junction and worked in San Diego at same time we lived there, wish I’d known about her then. She was career Army. She puts many things on her facebook page about politics, what certain senators, representatives are doing about many topics that affect us plain folks and about service people so I Know she is telling truth, not just spouting to hear herself. I have forwarded some of her articles to couple of our senators to let them know we know what’s being done with our tax money behind our backs. Have gotten thank you from senator for forwarding articles to him. He was same senator that helped hubs get his VA medical benefits back. I worked for over 2 yrs. to get him back in system after he was taken out because he made too much money before his stroke. It plainly states in rules for how much copay he had to pay that if a person makes so much they would have to pay higher copay but yet they took him out of system without even telling him, without ever even notifying him he was taken out of system. He found out when he went to get yearly physical that he had been taken out. I told senators what had happened to him.
Have to be very pro-active to be treated correctly and receive what is due to them.
It’s a disgrace what Congress is trying to do to Veteran’s and Seniors on SS and yet Congress gives themselves big raises and take money from lobbyists. It’s disgraceful what goes on behind our backs. Sorry about this Jill, more people need to know what’s happening so they know who not to vote for. People need to educate themselves, not just vote for somebody cause they say they’ll do such and such. The less honest ones especially will tell you what they think you want to hear to get elected, then what do they do? It’s up to us to be aware, learn what is going on, what they vote for. Many people have computers now so are able to find out what politicians are really doing. I learned a lot when I worked at local small weekly paper few years ago.
Shoot it’s already almost midnight, time to hit the hay. Been making paper flowers Lia Griffith shares on her website, such wonderful projects for everybody. Have wonderful week.
