Today lets look at a few details of my Christmas decor a bit closer. I love the whole picture of my decorated rooms but sometimes I like to take a closer look at some of the Christmas details. We will start in the living room at our Christmas tree. You can see details of the trees ornaments in my earlier post.
Beyond the tree you can see the lights strung through the decor on the wall-to-wall shelf.
Bringing the shelf into focus you can see the nativity in the center of the shelf, framed by a vintage french horn and a blinged out white picture frame, and topped by a glittered star.
Trees on either side of the nativity are from Target this year.
To the left of the Holy Family we find the shepherds and their sheep with a star behind them. Star is made from a vintage folding ruler.
To the right stand the stately Wise Men, carrying their gifts to the Christ Child.
Long shelves need lots of filler – my Mom gave me this trophy cup for Christmas last year. The old red books I bought at a garage sale this summer.
Metal crown was a Christmas gift years ago and the gold pomegranates tucked into the crown I bought several years ago.
Beside my chair I placed the old window that was on the shelf all summer. I hung a woven basket bag from Haiti on the window and tucked it full of boxwood, bay, and a fun ornament my sister gave me a few years ago.
My Metal Side Table isn’t very big on top but I managed to tuck a couple tiny trees here to make it a bit festive.
My wooden horse is a very favorite of mine. I found him at Marshall’s and he insisted on coming home with me.
Someone asked a question about the cute little container beside the horse that holds ornaments. It’s a log with a little drawer in it.
It’s a favorite of mine and I have to use it somehow at Christmas as it seems I don’t have a spot to keep it all year.
To the left of our TV, on top of the piano, David broods over the Christmas decor. Though his expression never changes I believe he is rather happy with his place where he can see what’s happening in this room. And I think he quite likes his gold, glittery fluff surrounding him 😀
Vintage petits fours. I bought these along with a bunch of other vintage decor stuff on ebay years and years ago!
On the other side of the TV sits a small silver tree, all decked out with miniture, vintage ornaments, and a rocking camel that I bought last year from World Market.
A vintage nativity ornament is tucked into the middle of the tree.
Dress from sits beside the piano and is dressed up with a vintage necklace and a string of glass and tinsel ‘pearls’.
My photo bomber! She kept insisting on getting in my way so I shot a few photos of her.
My vintage metal ferris wheel is hung with vintage ‘icicles’.
In the dining room we find a bit of a woodland paradise. Sheepskin from IKEA. Vintage baby deer from an antique store – my Mom gave them to me for Christmas last year. Antler is one my brother found while farming a few years ago. Sticks from the yard, fresh bay and magnolia create a ‘tree’ for the deer to rest under.
One one shelf beside my dining room nook I placed an olive wood nativity. I found this at Home Goods – it was made in Bethlehem, Israel.
Beside my front door, on the little table, I placed a large flower frog that I found at the Springfield flea this fall. The house I found at Home Goods a few weeks ago, the old scoop I got from Smiths Merchants, that shop I have been selling my things in. An old folding ruler is shaped into a crown. On the shelf beside the front door I have my small collection of cutting boards, some glittery trees, and my ‘moose’. I’ve always called him a moose but really he’s an elk. But since I started out calling him a ‘moose’ that’s what I continue to call him.
I love all the little details. Now to get things finished up for Christmas – since my family came out for my Grandma’s funeral this week, we are having Christmas with them on Saturday. I’m scrambling to get things done for that, keep up with the last minute pillow orders that keep coming in, and find time to spend with my sister and her family and my brother. And we’ve started the process of going through my Grandma’s things while they are here too. I won’t be getting bored anytime soon 😀
