Woo-Hoo! Sew a Fine Seam has a new look!
A logo, new background for the blog, new biz cards – it’s so exciting! I am in love with my logo!
I wanted something that portrayed a bit more than sewing. Since I DO a bit more than sewing 😀
So I handed the job over to an expert – someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to design and putting things together.
Brent Welborn of Welborn Creative created this oh-so-fun logo for me. He’s not only great at graphic design, he’s a great guy! And he’s my neighbor. He created a logo for my photographer friend Belle Hess and I loved what he created for her. It was so perfect for her and I decided then that when I got ready to hire a designer he would be the one!
Brent has a wonderful wife and family too. They have 7 adorable kids, a cute little ‘urban farm’ just a couple blocks from where we live, and a lovable dog named Asa. Our kids love to play with their kids and we count ourselves very blessed to have this family in our lives.
Brent’s wife has a business too – called A Welborn Baby. She’s a doula and she’s great at her job – I just know it! If I were still having babies I’d be hiring her for sure. You can find her facebook page here and give her a like!
I sent Brent a hodge-podge of scattered details about what I thought I might want. He created a few preliminary logo ideas. I loved the scissors, camera and paintbrush. Sewing, Photography, and Painting are my three main passions.
I loved the logo but thought it needed something to make it pop – color or some quirk or – something. Brent came through with this awesome idea of how to add color! How cool is that?! I loved it! Not only does it add color in a really fun way, but I think it also highlights the fact that I paint as well as sew.
I really don’t want new blog readers to immediately think this blog is all about sewing because it most certainly isn’t! Neither did I want to change the name. I like my name. I’ve had this blog for over six years and when I named it ‘Sew a Fine Seam’ I did so because sewing is always going to be something I do. I also added the Bible verse at the top to go with it – ‘Whatever you do, do with all your heart, as to the Lord.’ To paraphrase – ‘Do a FINE job of everything you do!’
I’ve added a few other changes to the blog too. And I still have a few more I’d like to make. Brent will have to help with some of them, some I can do myself. Some I think I can do myself but may end up throwing in the towel and begging Brent to help me!
If you need a graphic designer, call Brent. He’s good at what he does, he comes through quickly, and his prices are good too!
So tell me what you think – do you like the new design?
I love it and I love the logo! Brent is very talented. Such a blessing to get connected with good people that have the skills and to outsource some stuff! 🙂
Excited for you!
I feel very blessed to have met Brent and his family – for so many reasons!
I LOVE it!
Jane xx
Thank you! I’m so happy with it! A few more little things I want changed but I’m loving the logo!
It’s great and really defines what you are into!!! Awesome!
Thanks Susan!
I love it!!
Thanks Cathy!
Great look. Now. How’s about a new ‘do’ and a more professional photograph. Yanno? Just sayin,
Thanks Claire – check out the blog – my new photos arrived today!
CONGRATS on wonderful, exciting new logo that says all you do. So happy you were able to find a great digital engineer to smooth the way to your new look. Nothing like a new blog “do” to set Fall off in right direction for you and your blog.
I always find it interesting about people that live around us have interesting lives and stories they’re living which most of time we would most likely never know about.
And you’re off gal. I am so glad I found your blog and got to be friends with you. I’m the lucky one.
Thanks so much JaneEllen! I’m blessed by your friendship!
I love the new design. And you’re right. You do WAY more than sew!!
Thanks Nancy!
Love it!
Thanks Anita!
I love it Jill…everything looks so lovely. It is so fun to revamp a blog…kind of like getting a new outfit :).
Thank you Julia! I just added a new photo of me this evening too – so fun to freshen it all up!
Jill, I am so happy for you to be moving forward with so many good things! I love your new photo and logo! Thanks again for all the wonderful projects, and insights to life that you share with us. Tickled pink for all the creative talents you have been blessed with and so sweetly share. Love your balance of family, faith, and growing in your talents.
Thank you so much Carla! It blesses me so much to have friends who come back and support me!
Carla expressed it so well. I like it so much and think it is so wonderful that even with such a beautiful new look it is such a comfortable change. I have seen some that made the change so drastic it was not like the same place or style that it felt like someone elses blog. obviously you were able to communicate well with your neighbor to have come up with this lovely creation.
Thanks Brenda, I feel that way too. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted but Brent was able to take all the bits and pieces I told him and pull it all together! I’m so happy with the results! Now to get a few more tweaks done and add a shop page to teh blog so I can sell my stuff directly from my own site!
Love the new look! Love your blog
Thank you so much Debbie!
