vintage makeovers-2Last week was the week a friend and I hosted our yearly Spring Garage sale.  We have around 60 people each year who bring their kids clothes, baby items, and toys to one place and we have a huge sale.  A couple years ago we started putting household stuff in too.  This year a friend brought a bunch of her cool vintage stuff.  I nabbed some great stuff from her stash.  This side table was one of the things I brought home.  This is the ‘before’.

I decided a Union Jack would be fun for this piece.  But I didn’t want it too in-your-face so I used more muted colors than the original colors in the English banner.vintage makeovers-8

I painted the table with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Pure White chalk paint and then added the Union Jack in Paris Grey and Graphite.  I sanded it a bit to make it look a bit worn and then I waxed it with AS clear wax.vintage makeovers-10

I’m rather fond of the way it turned out.  It’s going to Midwest Memories today so if you are interested you can find it there!vintage makeovers-11You can see just a bit of another find I got from the same friend last week.  It has had its makeover too and will accompany this side table to Midwest Memories.  I’ll share more of it another day 😀

And I can’t end this post without mentioning the flowers you see in a couple of the pics.  Those flowers arrived at my door on April 1st.  The card reads ‘It’s finally April’.  I am completely stumped as to who sent them to me.  So if whoever sent them is reading this today ‘THANK YOU’!  What a fun surprise these were to come home to after running some errands.  My girls were quite pleased that they had been here to get them when the flower shop delivered them – and that they got to show them to me!

Happy Wednesday!  This week is flying right by.

Jill

When I first saw table you refurbished I could see many possibilities for it. Cute table, love 2 shelves also. The soft colors for Union Jack are great, good call Jill.
And if anybody deserves flowers you do, what a spectacular surprise. Happy for you. Maybe your hubs?
Look forward to seeing next find. Makes life interesting anticipating what I see in next posts. Happy Spring
