Vanilla Infused Sugar

vanilla infused sugar - how to

You know for this post that I love my coffee – but I don’t love it black.  I use yummy treats to make the coffee even better.  My favorite lately has been Vanilla Infused Sugar.  And just in case you’ve never infused sugar with Vanilla I’m going to share with you just how easy it is to do.  And it’s so yummy in coffee!  You really must try it 😀

You will need:

2 cups sugar

1 Vanilla bean

An airtight container

Knife

Cutting board (optional but I prefer not to dull my knives or cut my table/countertops)

For those of you local to me – I buy my vanilla beans from ‘The Flour Barrel’.  For everyone else – you can search locally for vanilla beans (bulk food stores are great possibilities) or you can order them online (Penzeys is a great choice)

Cut one Vanilla Bean in half lengthwise.

Scrape the seeds out of the bean pod.  Put seeds into the 2 cups of sugar.

vanilla infused sugar how to

Cut Bean pod in smaller pieces and add to sugar.

Mix well and store in an airtight container.  A cute container is optional but makes it more fun 🙂

For best flavor let sit for a couple of weeks before using.  Even my husband thought this was good to add to coffee – and he almost always drinks his coffee black!

Have you ever infused sugar with Vanilla?  Or maybe you’ve infused sugar with something else and I need to know about it!  Share your experience with infusing sugar with me!vanilla infused sugar-10Have a great week!

And don’t forget to go enter the 2 giveaways going on here on the blog! Scarf and Lilla Rose flexi and a 1000 gift card as part of my Suave Moroccan Infusion review.

I make this sugar and use it for my baking projects. I do drink my coffee black but it is fun to offer it to guests. Love your cute container for it. xo Diana

It is wonderful Daniela! And I just made my first batch of homemade vanilla extract right before Christmas – it’s ready to use this week! Just in time for Valentines!

To make this, will you need to have a beautiful blue vintage mason jar as well? What beautiful pictures. Makes me want to whip up a batch.

LOL! you don’t HAVE to have a cute blue jar Amy but it makes me smile when I add sugar to my coffee in the mornings! But the sugar will do just as well in a tupperware container 🙂

I also make lavender sugar. I grow my own lavender. I just mix the dried flowers into the sugar and let it sit. I don’t try to remove the flowers as they are edible.
I love vanilla in my coffee. Enjoy your blog.

That sounds yummy! I tried to grow some lavender one year but my soil was too wet for it I think. I’ll have to try again!
