Out of the Dark Ages is a bit on the drastic side – ok, ok, it’s a LOT on the drastic side but it is how I feel now that I have finally put myself out of my misery and entered the hallowed halls of an iPhone owner!
I am so excited. I finally have the capability of being on Instagram! Finally, finally, finally! You can follow me here, or from your phone search jillflory. I plan to get very much acquainted with IG 😀
So funny how a fruit with a bite out of it can be so highly coveted 😀 Makes me think of Forrest Gump when he was telling about his money being put into the stocks of some ‘fruit company’ and then you see the Apple computer and realize Forrest is a very rich man and doesn’t even know it.
I have wanted an iPhone for years. We could never justify the expense of going to a phone that was so expensive and cost so much more a month for the internet fee. And then I started this business…
And I really wanted to be on IG. And there are so many times when I’m out and about that I wish I had internet. An iPhone had turned into a business need and not just a housewife’s ‘want’. But it was still expensive. Hubby said the business needed to be able to pay for the extra monthly fee. And while the business has been capable of paying that extra monthly fee for several months now the money seemed to always find other places it was needed. Besides I didn’t have time to go phone shopping.
Hubby was still not happy with the cost of the phone and that higher monthly fee. Those monthly bills can be pesky little things can’t they? But I was determined – and not just any smart phone would do – it had to be an iPhone. I won’t bore you with any details on why, just that I wanted it to be an iPhone. So on our anniversary we went to town for the evening, just the two of us. Straight to the Verizon store to ask some questions. I always shop online but I like to ask questions from a real flesh-and-blood-person-who-is-standing-right-in-front-of-me sometimes. I asked my questions, Travis looked at the phones and asked a few questions, we left.
Now get this – this is the funny part of the story – my husband, who has been so anti-apple (because it is so expensive) told me he thought I should go ahead and get the iPhone 5. The most expensive one. I wanted to howl with laughter but I refrained. A few days later I had a really bad day so to make the day a bit better I sat down and ordered my iPhone 5. 2 days later it arrived. Miss Emma could hardly keep her hands to herself – she wanted to open it and hold it and set it all up herself in the worst way. I did let her show me some stuff and set up a couple of things, but seriously – it’s MY phone! I have to do it myself to learn. Cracks me up at the Mom-can’t-possibly-figure-this-out-on-her-own look on my daughters face! She’s such a dear 😀
And that’s the saga of my journey to Apple. Someday I want all my electronics to have that fruit with the bite out of it on them.

Good for you, Jill. I am happy for you- Hubby loves his, too. xo Diana
From what I’ve seen and heard from other bloggers it seems that type of phone is a necessity now. Especially with what you do. You do need to be able to have access to data, be on Instagram. I’ve always wondered what those babies cost a month to run. I have no need of one but can sure see business people’s needs to be up to the minute.
Happy for you to have one finally and if you are going to spend the money why not have the newest?
This from a person that hardly uses 350 minutes a month unless I call far away friends and family. I wouldn’t know what to do with it, would be a big waste. You enjoy that phone. Happy weekend
