Do you ever feel like you have pushed yourself to the limit? Given it all you’ve got? The well has run dry?
I hit that wall today. I’d been on such a roll, getting projects done, getting up early, staying up late, getting school all done each day, everyone had food to eat, clean clothes to wear, it was all zipping along at a smooth steady clip.
Today was planned as the ‘Get All The Big Painting Projects Done’ day. 2 cupboards, 1 dining room table, 6 dining room chairs, an outdoor table and chairs, and 2 side tables. No problem right? Start early, work all day, get it all done, move on to something else next week.
Right? Wrong. Today my well ran dry. I did not get my projects all finished. So what do you do when the well runs dry? I had to just go with it. I took a 2 hour nap instead of eating lunch. I drank a lot of water. I ate a good supper and broke open a Pepsi. I drank a lot more water. I made myself continue working on projects – slowly. I allowed myself to decide it was ok to NOT get them all done today. Sometimes you have to give yourself permission to let things go. To NOT get it all done. To even change your mind about how a project will be accomplished and not put so much time and detail into it – something simpler will work just as well. Sometimes you have to step back and regroup. Tomorrow is a fresh new day, a fresh clean slate. Tomorrow I will REST. Rejuvenate. Rehydrate. Replenish my well. So that come Monday we can hit the school books again, paint some more furniture and start working on some sewing projects! Give yourself permission to rest and let some things go when you need to! (I did get one cupboard, the dining room table and the two side tables done today 🙂 )
Have a Blessed Sunday!

Yep- Jill! I think that happens to all of us at some time or another. As women we always expect way too much of ourselves and think we can move mountains…and sometimes we can, but we need to remember we have to start one shovel at a time (moving that mt). Sounds like you had a good day and got quite a bit done after all. Have a wonderful Sunday- xo Diana
I’d say you accomplished quite a bit despite feeling like you couldn’t get it all done. That nap was a nice way to do some self care. Pretty pond view. xox
Jill, I’d say you deserve a little (or big) break! You’re right…it’s so important not to put so much pressure on ourselves. Sometimes we really do need to give ourselves a break! Great post 🙂

I know just how you feel! When i worked full time i got more done then now. I’m retired now, and get less done. I guess i was more organized then. Tomorrow is another day, and we do the best we can. You still got alot done!!!

This post is full of wisdom! I love your attitude and I smiled when I read about your nap and your Pepsi. Good for you Jill. Personally I was ready for a long nap and a cold Pepsi just reading your painting ‘to do’ list. My gosh, I need to start taking your vitamins hahaha
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
