Finally I am sharing this darling ruffled dress. I used a variation of this pattern on the girls dresses for a wedding in this post.
My beautiful friend was so sweet to pose for some pics for me so I could share this dress with you! It just isn’t the same showing it on a hanger.
She waited a LOOOOOONG time for me to finally get her dress made. I’d think I was going to get it made and then something else would come up. It was silly. It is an easy dress to make and doesn’t even take that much time. And the result is so sweet!
I got the instructions for this dress from Tea Rose Home. She created a dress like this as a knock-off of a J.Crew dress. Her design is great, easy to follow, and just so cute! I ordered the pattern she used for the top, but you could probably use any peasant top pattern and adjust the skirt to fit.
I’m also trying out Lightroom for editing. I like it, no I don’t, oh wait yes I do!, well, maybe not, er… THIS is cool, HOW DO YOU DO THIS?, sigh. Learning something new isn’t easy but if learning it makes life easier in the long run it’s worth it right? I go back and forth – wanting to do stuff like I did in Elements, but really liking how some things are easier and better in Lightroom. Maybe I just need full-blown Photoshop. As if I have several hundred dollars laying around that I don’t know what to do with 😀
And I’m contemplating a different name for my photography. Somehow I just don’t really want sew a fine seam on my wedding photos. But I’m not settled on what I DO want on them. Have any ideas? I’d love to hear what you think!
Lots of different editing techniques – just trying things out! If you have any great tips for using Lightroom I’d be delighted if you would share!
Don’t forget to go enter the giveaway! It runs through the 20th.
I love the dress- she is just darling in it, too.
New name? I think you ought to do a Name It contest.
Hmmm…. Finely Finished Photography (variation of the Sew A Fine Seam) or
Let Me Shoot You! (snicker)
Just a couple-Do you want more? lol xo Diana
Snort, snicker, guffaw! Do you think I’d be able to get the name ‘Let Me Shoot You’ registered online as a business?!!
Love the dress! I, too, bought the pattern for the top and have this dress pinned in Pinterest 🙂 Just haven’t found the right fabric yet… Is this a knit? It would be nice to not have to finish the ruffles off!
Yes this fabric was Knit. Hav found the fabric and I don’t think I even asked her where she got it.
Love the dress and the photos! So cute, Havilah!
Thanks!
