Deadlines

Happy August!  August has been a looming deadline for me.  Deadlines mean chaos around here.  I currently have Legos all over my living room.  On the floor, on the furniture.  Books and papers scattered hither and yon.  Stacks of pillows and my current project for ‘Celebrating Everyday Life‘ magazine don’t really have a home and are piled in my dining room.  The dining room table is covered with satin and serger trimmings.  Bits of fabric and pattern paper create a haze over it all.

You’ve heard the saying ‘A place for everything, and everything in its place’.  Around here it’s ‘no place for anything and nothing in its place’.  I am at that point where I am teetering dangerously between going quite mad and dissolving into complete numbness and utter uselessness.  In other words it is time to be done.  Time for the deadline to be met, clean up, reorganize, rest a bit, and head on to the next thing.

3 of the 4 dresses are complete.  A good pressing and they will be ready for wedding time.  One more dress and I’m finished.  The sash for the last dress is already finished.  YaY!  My Mom brought us a yummy full course dinner last night.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  We all needed that!  Now the girls will have something to eat for lunch today that they like.  Spoiled American’s we are here in this household I do believe.  Horrors if we might have to make a ham sandwich without the kind of cheese we prefer.  Silly girls.

My deadline for my magazine subscription is Saturday.  Most of it has been submitted.  All but the really important part – the beauty shots.  I haven’t done those yet.  Why get in a hurry?  I have dresses to make 😀   ****if you haven’t bought your copy of the July/August issue of Celebrating Everyday Life you need to do it now!  Next week the price goes up so get yours now for only $3.99 for your digital copy – here. *****

I get to help photograph the wedding Saturday.  I’m a bit excited about the opportunity.  This also means I’ll have good pics of the dresses I made – on the girls they were made for!

I had to get out Tuesday and get myself a Pepsi.  Thinking I might have to do that again today.  Unless the sweet tea I made last night does the job.  Somehow in my book, you just can’t beat a Pepsi though.

So what about you?  What have you been doing this week?  I’m hoping things settle just a bit after this weekend.  Not sure that’s going to happen though – Vacation Bible School is next week, I have several small projects to get done and out of my way, 6 dining room chairs to slipcover, a bedroom makeover to finish, school books to order, school to start, and the list never ends.  At least it’s never boring here! (not all of that has to be finished next week – it’s just time to focus on some of it and begin getting it done!)

Blessings and peace on your day and the rest of your week. And wishing you some down time and time to regroup. I know I always need that after a busy season. 🙂
