Are you tired of seeing all the ‘Junque’ I find? You know spring/summer is garage sale season so when you have a bit of an addiction to old ‘junque’ you have to get out there when there is plenty of great finds to be had!

metal shelf, tool caddy, strawberry baskets, kids mop, peg board, round table top, fridge drawer, old window, flower-pot – all from the same garage sale as the globes 🙂
Most of this came from a friend’s garage sale. I showed you a brief preview here. The rest of the stuff came from a neighbor down the street who has a sale every year. She used to go to shows and events like I’m doing now. Now she just does the one at her house, one at her sister’s house and maybe one more – can’t remember for sure what she said.
She’s a sweet lady and always has some great stuff and great prices. I found the best pile of vintage lace to add to my stash. I think I forgot to get a pic of the lace though.
Vintage Feed Sacks. These got used for the prototype for my new creation that will be featured in the next issue of Celebrating Everyday Life! {If you don’t have your copy of the July/August issue go get it now! It’s available in print now too!
I’ve seen these around but never in my price range. At $2 this one came home with me 😀
Cute little dolls! I love their old crocheted clothes. I gave these to my Mom.
This was like a box of gold. $10 for the set. These books are the reason I know the Bible stories like I do. These are the reason I know about Bible stories that aren’t always on the list of favs that every church-going child knows. I was so excited to find a set for my own!
Now this wasn’t found at a garage sale. It has languished in my back porch for YEARS. Along with a bunch of other old forgotten metal ductwork. From the days when my hubby was going to do the ductwork and furnace installation himself 😀 heehee! I recently pulled the pile out and begged him to get rid of it. We have all the ductwork in now and our furnace. No need for any of this stuff. But as I was looking at the pile in my driveway I couldn’t help but think that surely something cool could be done with the pieces that had been put together in a wreath circle shape. It’s metal, it’s industrial, it’s a cool shape, surely there is SOMETHING!?! It was spared the trip to the junk. It sits on my porch as I decide if it is indeed junk or if I can come up with a way to make it ‘junque’. Any ideas? I’m open to suggestions!
And you remember the macrame covered lamp shade from a couple days ago? This is what it looked like after I’d spent a couple of hours cutting and pulling and unwinding and totally killing my hands in the process.
I let it go because it was time to get dinner. And when my hubby saw it he said ‘get a utility knife, take it outside, and get that stuff off . You have to use the right tools for the job’.
So in about 5 minutes he got the rest off for me. Should have let this one go till he got home and he could have done it all.
As I looked at the way it was made I decided the round piece wasn’t part of the original. So I cut those threads holding it on.
Ahhhh. I like that better! See – it was worth buying this piece of ‘junque’ and working to uncover the beauty. I have plans for this – we shall see if they turn into reality.

How funny.. I actually liked the lampshade with the funky crochety stuff on it? no idea why… but anyway.. I”m SURE you will manage to make it even cuter!! Fun stuff. thanks for sharing.
It wasn’t horrible – but it was rather dirty in a few places and it just wasn’t ‘me’. When I can finally get my ceiling fan down in the living room I have an idea for this there – if hubby is willing. who knows, if it goes too long I’ll come up with a new idea and this will get taken to springfield. Unless you want to put macrame back on it??!! 🙂
I am not tired of seeing your awesome garage sale stuff but I am extremely envious of your finds. Think we need to move back to the Midwest again. No goodies like that here at our thrift shops or yard sales, boohoo. Will look forward to seeing what you do with that awesome duct wreath and the great naked lamp shade. We get paid Wed. 24th. so will be going to yard sales on Friday. I’ve waited 5 weeks for payday (again) so I’m going to enjoy driving around seeing what I can see to buy, maybe I’ll be very naughty and spend the mtg. money. Yeah right like I’d do that. Happy weekend
Thanks Jane! The duct wreath is still on my porch waiting for the right inspiration to strike. I’ll have to troll pinterest for wreaths – maybe I’ll get some ideas!
A demi john for $2.00? Woot Woot!! That is an awesome find!!
I know, Lisa, I know! I was rather excited and would you believe I didn’t even see it right away? I had been wandering around the garage sale for awhile – so glad it wasn’t already gone!
You found some wonderful things, Jill. I love those Bible books, too, and our kids had a set. I think one of the kids still have them. I can’t tell you how many macrame pieces I did back in the 70’s. lol HUGE wall hangings and one piece that held glass and hung as a table. oh my…all that knot tying and it probably took you almost as much time to UN-tie it..lol Happy Hunting for more treasures- xo Diana
I remember my Mom making macrame stuff too! When I was taking this one apart I was certain it was taking me longer to undo it than it took to do it! Then my hubby finished it up in minutes with a utility knife. Should have waited for him in the first place 🙂
