Summer weather has finally arrived. Heat and humidity galore! The heat I can take, the humidity not so much. Because we had to replace our front sidewalk this Spring (one of the ‘joys’ of living in town) we had to use cash from my a/c fund. The fund that only needed 200 dollars to be fully funded to set the central air unit. As a result we got rather hot in the main living space of our house. We put the window units in the upstairs earlier – no reason to not sleep when the units are there even though I really didn’t want to have to put them in this year. And this weekend we caved and put the window unit in the downstairs.
A couple of weeks ago I loaded up some things I’d made and took them to Midwest Memories in Tipp City, Ohio. A chair and bar stool painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Some handmade items. Take a shipping trip soon and check out all the great stuff in the place. There is something for everyone! And if you like to use Annie Sloan paint or if you want to try it out you can buy it there.
I took a few camera straps to see how they go. And isn’t that dresser just darling? It’s for sale, so if you are in need of a dresser go snap it up!
Pillows and bags were the main items I took. All things I already had around here, I need to clear out a bit and make way for some brand new ideas that are coming up!
I’m working on getting ready for an event this Saturday, July 20th. It also happens to be my sister’s birthday and I really thought she might decide that coming all the way from Kansas to help me at the event would be what she wanted to do for her birthday. 😉 Today I created a bridal veil to have on display Saturday. If you live in my area, you should plan to come out and see me and what all I am creating. Some new things you’ve not seen before! Thobe Vintage & Antique Rental is hosting the Open House Event and graciously offered space to vendors! Food and Drinks will be available for purchase too 🙂 I want to see you there!
My next magazine contribution is in the works! I’m SO excited about this one and can’t wait to see it in print. If you come out this weekend you just might get a sneak peek of the item I’m making as I just may have one for sale! It’s taking a lot of work and with everything else going on it’s been hard to get all my ducks in a row for getting the photo shoot done. My deadline is looming. Along with 2 wedding deadlines.
Remember my post not too long ago about my hubby and I having a ‘problem’? How we start projects before others are finished? Well, we did it again. And this one is NOT my fault. I have a wall stencil that was given to me. I need to paint a wall and blog about it. I was going to paint the girls room, which has needed a new paint job for a few years, and use the stencil on a wall or 2. I asked Travis if I could also take out the carpet. I hate carpet and want my house completely carpet free. My plan was to remove the carpet, paint the old wood floor and put down a large area rug for now. Easy, peasy, done in a day – or at least in a weekend.
Enter my ‘Mr. Steady’ husband. He didn’t want the floor painted. He wanted hardwood installed. And he didn’t want to wait. So more money got pulled from a/c fund to buy the flooring. Carpet got pulled out, base trim removed, and then he had to do some repair spackling before he would let me paint. Something about valleys not being straight enough and screw heads popping through. So there went my project being finished in a weekend. And nevermind that we started the project at the beginning of 2 of the busiest weeks I’ll have all summer. That’s just how we roll it seems.
Oh and we also went and picked some green beans Friday night and I had those to can Saturday morning. And we brought home beets, zucchini, and yellow squash. So I made 3 zucchini pies and need to make some more zucchini stuff. I also made a great recipe of Lettuce Wraps that do a great imitation of PF Chang’s.
So that’s a bit of an update of what I’ve been doing lately. Check out Midwest Memories – downtown is all open even with the road construction, just go around behind and park on the side streets. Sidewalks are open. And definitely come see me this weekend in Versailles!

You little energizer bunny!! I have a PF Chang’s recipe like that I love! Who needs A/C??? 🙂
Ha! I suppose people who live in Colorado don’t need a/c 😉 heehee!
Jill- I just relived a bit of my life through your post. It seemed we always had something going on AND we had to pull money from the AC fund so many times. I can remember living in a house that was so hot the candles melted in the closet. UGH! Never again!!! Hope your show goes well- I know it will. Try and take a few minutes for yourself just to BREATHE! xo Diana
Story of life isn’t it? We are keeping cool – with the window units. We will hopefully have the big unit installed this fall. I hope I never have to live where candles melt in the summer!!!
Ah, how bored you would be without several projects going!! 😉
Midwest Memories looks lovely!
Wishing you the best on your event this weekend. It would be great fun to help you with it. Someday perhaps… At least you have girls who are a great age to help and/or soon will be.
I can’t wait to see the girls’ wall!
True – but I really need to learn to schedule better so I don’t have to do 4 weeks worth of work in 2 weeks!
Wow, Jill, you are getting it done! Love all your projects and the fact that you were able to take some things to that store. Can’t wait to see your new ideas come to life!

Thanks Liz 🙂
I agree with the other comments…you would probably not know what to do with yourself if you didn’t have several projects going at the same time. I can’t wait to see what you have the in works 🙂
probably but why does it seem like everything ends up happening at once sometimes?!
