Awhile back a lovely lady contacted me about making her a ruffled shower curtain like the one Tricia has in her home. You can see Tricia’s in her post of her home tour – scroll to the bottom – it is the last picture in the post.
I said of course I could make one. My client provided me with bleached drop cloths to make it with and a linen-looking, thin cotton for the ruffles. I’m not sure I will ever use a drop cloth again without bleaching it first! I loved the softness and the color of those cloths!
I asked Tricia a few questions about her curtain and set about making one like it.
The curtain is double width of a regular shower curtain so you should have double the amount of curtain rings too. Since I don’t have that many rings, I just put to buttonholes on one hook to hang it for pics.
Have you ever tried to take pics in a room that gets NO natural light? Not the most desirable photography location. Can you say ‘edit edit edit’??
My bathroom is on the list for a makeover – when I find time to do some projects of my own. And I’m thinking a ruffld shower curtain like this is going to be one of the new things I my bathroom gets. I love it. I didn’t want to take this one down, but since I was paid to make it, I did indeed take it down, boxed it up, and mailed it to it’s owner 😀
Made me really ready to give this room a total makeover.
Its time will come – what would I do if I ran out of stuff that needed fixed up?? I bought paint today to start a project I’ve been putting off. A gallon of white and 6 quarts of 6 different colors. Can you believe it?? COLOR! Red, Yellow, Green, Turquoise, Brown, and Orange. Can you guess what room I’m painting? And yes, all those colors go on the wall.

Whoa! SIX different COLORS?!?! YOU? 😉 haha 🙂 Hmmmm….one of
the girls room?
Heehee! Can you just imagine me putting 6 bright colors on the walls of my main living space? Not in this decade 😉 Larke and Becca get the colors
Alright dear, how much is that? I may need one of those too! 🙂
Melaine, it looks just like you! It’s $75 to make it plus the cost of the drop cloth and ruffle fabric. I used a 9’x12′ drop cloth for the main curtain and it used most of it. I made the bottom ruffle out of the drop cloth too because there wasn’t enough of the fabric my client sent me for all 3 ruffles. I thought it looked just fine that way. That ruffle used up what was left of the big drop cloth. Let me know if you want one, if you want to send me the fabric or if you want me to get it and add the cost to the bill 🙂 If you want it bleached that would be an extra cost too cause it takes a good bit of bleach, water, and time!
Hi! I was wondering if I could convince you to make me one of those shower curtains (depending on final cost and if you can wash it(friendly kid cheetoh smears 😂))
I just love it!!!!!
I love how nice you are to your customers, you always write nice things like “a lovely lady”. How come we never hear about the cantankerous customers? Haha! Ima guessing maybe you’re doing your sewing room or the girls’ rooms? Can’t wait to see it….I’m a COLOR girl myself.
🙂 I’ve never had a client who was terrible to deal with – and the more difficult one – well, I just stay silent 😉 and the room to be painted is my middle and little sisters room. They don’t want all white believe it or not! LOL!
I LOVE that shower curtain. It turned out really great! Can’t wait to see what you do with color- I am thinking KIDS though- xo Diana
Thanks Diana, I think the shower curtain is great too! and you got it right – all that color is for the kids!
The girlies room!! I love all your white, but I also still love color!
Love, love, love this shower curtain!
Of course the girlies room 🙂 It is very much in need of a makeover! I love the shower curtain too – I bet your hubby would love for me to make one for your bathroom huh?!!!! LOL!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with, with all those colours. LOVE that shower curtain. Just adore it.
Thanks Jane! I’m excited about my paint project – if I can just get it to all come together now!
Those ruffles are are fabulous!! I can’t wait to see what you’re about to tackle ~ I’m stumped what you’d be doing, maybe stripes?? 🙂
Thanks Pam – I need to be getting the paint project done – maybe this weekend I can work on it. It’s for my girls room – you know I couldn’t do that much color in my main living area!!! 🙂
Wow Jill! This shower curtain is fabulous!!! I just love the large ruffles, and the idea of bleaching a drop cloth!! I may use an antique French Metis sheet for the shower curtain in our master bath. Just.need.more.time. :o)
Hugs!
Becky
Thanks Becky, isn’t it great! I have been wanting a new shower curtain for myself for awhile and I really think I’d love this one. Now to make time for my own projects.
I am always drawn to these kinds of curtains but yours is extra sweet. Just the right amount of ruffle. You do beautiful work, Jill and you manage to blog and continue to work on new projects. YOu are amazing!
Liz
I know, Liz, I really liked how this turned out. The lady I made it for had bleached the drop cloth and it was so soft and I loved the color! I’ll be bleaching drop cloths a lot from now on I think!
I love this, Jill! It turned out great and I like the idea of bleaching drop cloth. Hmmm … maybe I’ll make some pillows with it.
I love how soft the drop cloth gets with the bleaching! I think I put it through 3 times – but might try to use less water next time and see if I can get by with only soaking/washing it twice.
Well I am the lucky lovely lady =) & I just have to say that this gorgeous curtain is even more fab in person! We had been on vacation & I literally stood in my driveway waiting for the mailman to deliver the box!! Jill – you are amazing! Love love love!!! =)
🙂 So happy that you are happy! Send me a pic of it!
Beautiful job…this is just gorgeous!
Thanks Debra, I loved how this turned out!
you know all the drop cloths will be sold out by tonight! I’m going now cuz this is the shower curtain of my dreams.
🙂 I keep expecting to see the price on drop cloths go up – every time I go in to buy some I hold my breath! So far so good! Thanks so much for coming by and taking the time to comment!
Hey there. I absolutely love this shower curtain and would love to inquire how to have you make me one just alike? If you would at your convenience, ease let me know if you can take my order and the details. Blessings:)
Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth! I can make you a shower curtain like this but it would be September before I can get to it. I can put you on my list if you want! That shower curtain is double the width of a normal shower curtain and needs 24 rings instead of 12 – just to clarify! A curtain like this cost $175 plus shipping.
Hi there! I am late to the game, but would totally love to purchase one of these shower curtains. Are you still taking requests? Thank you so much for your time!
I would love to have you make me some of those drop cloth shower curtains.. Is it possible?
