Tomorrow is Independence day! So today I have an Independence Day Tablescape for you along with some Independence Day ramblings.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of the day this nation won it’s hard-fought-for freedom and the right to govern themselves.
This nation was founded on the Godly, biblical principles. By Christian men and women who were looking to God the Creator of the Universe as their ultimate King and acknowledged His Son Jesus as King of their lives. Dig a bit into history and you will find this to be true. But hurry – our history books are being rewritten and the true history of this nation will soon be buried and forgotten.
As we think about how our nation was founded and honor the brave men and women who fought for our freedoms in so many ways, let’s not forget the source of true freedom. Jesus Christ. Without Him we can never know what freedom really means. With Him we can have freedom even if our earthly, human rights and freedoms are stripped from us.
Let’s gather our families and friends and celebrate the fact that we still live in a nation that is considered ‘Free’. No matter how many of those freedoms are disappearing we can still come and go as we please, worship our Lord, and we have blessings too many to count.
Creating a tablescape is fast becoming one of my favorite hobbies! Pulling all the pieces together and creating a pretty spot to enjoy a meal is so rewarding. Now I just need a cook to get the meal all prepared while I’m setting the table! 😀
‘We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessings…’
Place cards were made by cutting a bingo card into a star shape and using a giant, zinc paper clip to add a paper letter disk. Festive, fun, and all stuff I had on hand!
Table and chairs I got at a garage sale this past weekend.
The American detailed angel is a vintage wax cherub. I bought it several years ago when ‘The Blissful’ was still open. I’ve always been so glad I grabbed on while I could. I think it is just darling.
Have a very happy 4th of July weekend!

Absolutely lovely! I like setting a pretty table, too. It doesn’t even have to take that long to add a little extra, but seems like I don’t very often. All your white makes gorgeous photo backdrops.
Have a blessed week!
Thanks! Hope you had a good 4th? See any good fireworks??! 😀
Amen my friend! Our money does not say “In God We Trust” for nothing.
Your tablescape is darling. I LOVE that crown and bit of fabric on the cherub.
Happy 4th!
thanks Laura! Happy 4th!
ok…I need any info I can get on the measuring glasses to see if I can still find them anywhere. Every time I see them, I like them more 🙂
I bought the glasses from Kara when she had a sale at her house and was clearing out. It’s been at least a couple of years. i have no idea where to get more but i wish I did cause we have broke a couple. I love them too!
I did a little digging and from what I could tell….they came from the DOLLAR TREE! Whaaaaaat?!?!?! That makes it sting a little more that we missed them, lol!
I dug up a blog post that said the blogger got them at dollar tree. I think Kara may have had them in her store prior to that though because I think she had them in her shop in Greenville and it was after that when she sold them when she did a pop-up shop at her house. Not for sure how long I’ve had them but it’s been a few years now. Wish I’d find some at Dollar Tree but since I never shop there I prolly will miss their next cool sale! LOL!
I know. I’d go in there a lot more often if I came out with things like that, lol! 🙂
I LOVE it ALL, Jill. That table setting is just so darned cute. You are right- our freedoms are being taken away and God is being taken out of schools and lives. I am going to email you with a book that I think you should read because you would love how it shows what is happening in our country- xo Diana
Thanks Diana, and it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who sees our freedom disappearing!
I featured this post on my blog today. I was looking for inspiration, and I found it in your post. Great message…great tablescape. 🙂
Thank you so much Carolyn, that was so sweet of you! It was fun to see the pingback pop up in my inbox before I even saw your comment 🙂 Hope your 4th was truly great!
So did you & Travis have a quiet dinner or dessert out there?
🙂 No Jenni, we didn’t, I put it all away as soon as the photo shoot was done! But I did think about it and we did have coffee on the porch this morning!
Wow! Great message, and your whole table and tablescape is AMAZING!! Love it! Happy 4th 🙂
Susan
Thank you Susan, it was such fun setting this one up!
You are such a great stylist! So fun and festive. Have a wonderful and safe 4th, Jill!
Thanks Loi! I’m blushing at your praise! It means a lot coming from you since you are way more talented in this area than I am!
This is so charming! I’m in love with your “gather” sign 🙂
Thanks Kelly! A friend’s Dad cut that sign out of metal and my friend painted it. It is modeled after the $150 dollar one in Sundance magazine. My friends price was $55 I think. Not a bad savings 🙂
This is beautiful! I always have a hard time making pretty tablescapes. This one is a winner!
Thanks Sue – I love styling a table!
