Summer has arrived. The humidity has about topped the temperature I think and the temperature is in the 90’s during the day. Our a/c unit is not installed yet. You probably don’t want to come visit me now unless you like to be hot and sticky. (we do have window units in the upstairs. probably going to have to cave and put the downstairs window unit in too 🙁
My teenager has a new friend. They hit it off over the ‘Alive’ concert and may be joined at the hip by summer’s end. It’s a direct answer to a fervent prayer I’ve sent up the past couple weeks. Teenage girl’s and their friends and all the issues that go with that are not for the faint of heart. I’d been praying for a close friend who lived close by and am just so thankful for this turn of events.
Larke and I had our last piano lessons for the summer today! So nice to have a break. I have had exactly 29 lessons now. Learning to play the piano at my age is not for the faint of heart either. Some days I wonder why I try. But it’s something I’ve always wanted to do so I’m doing it.
My flowers on my Rusty Fence are beyond gorgeous! Seriously they grow like they are trying to return Ohio to its impenetrable vegetation state of hundreds of years ago.
My urns each had one plant planted in them. Lovely healthy plants that were just begging to be put in something larger so they could show the world what they were really all about.
Just look at them now! Oh that I could bloom where I am planted with as much vigor and enthusiasm as these lovely white petunias.
I had some more wedding sewing dropped off to me today. Looks like July won’t be boring. Hope I find a day or two to go swimming. Our pool finally went up on Sunday. The water is freezing but the girls got in today anyway. With the weather we’ve been having I doubt the water will stay cold for long.
How is your summer shaping up? Do you have big plans for the 4th next week?

seiously.. those urns have one petunia each? you should see my pathetic ones in the ground out front.. and there is 8 of them! Yours are beautiful!!
Where do you buy your plants? I buy from Sink’s and they grow better than anything from anywhere else I’ve ever tried. All I do is water. And I plant them in the good potting soil from Sink’s too.
Wow, your wave petunias are just gorgeous Jill! And I see your hydrangeas coming into their own too. Are they Annabelle hydrangeas? I have some planted along a wall, and they’re just hitting their prime. Our weather sounds a lot like yours. Makes me want to crawl into a cave! We’ll be heading down to the lake to spend the holiday with friends, as we have for years. Be sure to show us your wedding sewing before you send it off!
Debbie
Yes, my hydreangeas are gorgeous! I’ll have to show you what they look like now – these pics were a couple weeks ago already. They are the new version of the heirloom annabelles – called Incrediball. I LOVE them!
What a gorgeous entrance! So welcoming.
Thanks Jane!
It sounds like so many great things are happening in your life! Good for your daughter having a good friend and for you in sticking with those piano lessons…you will both treasure these things for life!
Lovely flowers, I have the colored version of your white petunias on my front porch, I think they are called Million Bells.
Glad you are off to a great start for summer! We have window a/c units and we never seem to get them in until we have wilted for a few days! 🙂
XO,
Jane
God has blessed us! We are so thankful for all He gives us daily.
Your flowers are just stunning and I can’t believe how prolific they look in your urns. You definitely have a green thumb!
Sounds like you are having a lovely summer. I only have one teen…and yes..these years take a lot of dedication, time, and lots of talking. I sure love it at the same time. So glad your daughter has a good friend to hang out with. That is such a special treasure.
Have a lovely day!
~Julia
Thanks Julia, and I think the teen years take almost more energy than the baby years – but maybe it’s just because I’m older?!!
Never was much of a petunia fan before but you converted me.. love the white, white, white!! Stunning..
I love the white, and how well they grow! Petunias weren’t ever my fav either till I found these that grow so well.
Your flowers are absolutely gorgeous! Wish my thumb was green!
Thanks Leslie, my thumb really isn’t so green though. It’s the place I buy the plants – their stuff grows like nothing i’ve ever had before. I won’t buy from anywhere else when it comes to annuals.
Beautiful flowers! I can’t seem to get mine that excited…
Thank you Jennifer, we are enjoying them!
Your petunias are stunning! I have tried to have yellow petunias and little blue flowers in pots on our back porch but they just get leggy. What do you feed them?!
Thanks Linda. My secret is where I buy them! Honestly I’ve never had flowers from anywhere else that did this well. I don’t know what they do different but their stuff grows amazing. I buy my potting soil for my urns and pots there too. I plant with their soil and I water. That’s it.
Your flowers are just beautiful….gorgeous. I think it is great that you are taking a summer break from piano. You will go back with renewed enthusiasm in the Fall, I hope. I don’t know how you do it without AC. We would die in the humidity here- xo Diana
Thanks Diana. We have a/c in the upstairs and we could put our window unit in the downstairs. I’m being stubborn cause I really didn’t want to have to do that this year. The humidity has been horrid lately. It cooled off and rained tonight so it’s not so bad now. We’ll see if I cave and beg for the unit downstairs! Or maybe our quotes will finally come through and someone will be reasonable on the central air unit!
So beautiful! And congrats on your piano lesson accomplishments. I’m very impressed!
Liz
Thanks Liz, but don’t be too impressed – you haven’t heard me play! LOL! I love that I’m learning though no matter how slow it is and how much there is to learn!
Oh my goodness this is just beautiful.. Iwould like to invite you to come share it at Share it One More Time at One More Time Events http://www.onemoretimeevents.com/2014/03/faux-ivory-mother-of-pearl-ceramic.html… Tammy
Thanks Tammy – I’ve been busy and out-of-town lately and am just now gettting back to my blog – I’ll be over soon!
