Happy Wednesday! Is it really the middle of the week already? If time goes any faster I’m going to spin right off this planet. If today is Wednesday already that means that tomorrow it will be 2 whole weeks since I brought home these fun finds I’m going to share with you today. Goodness but I really thought I’d share these before now.
A friend of mine, who is adopting, had a fundraiser garage sale to help bring their son home. I mentioned it a couple of times before – how this pillow was a fundraiser for their adoption. This friend always has the best garage sales and since this time it was for a really really good cause I bought even more great stuff.
Prize ribbons, a nest, and a vintage brooch.
Vintage stamps, eclair papers, and paper flower pots.
Darling little rain boots which will fit my youngest daughter, but I really bought them to use as flower vases! I saw some other bloggers use rain boots for vases earlier this Spring and loved the idea. A cut child’s pair will suit me just fine to recreate the idea with my own twist to it. And the small wood hangers were an awesome find for me – I can use them to display my child-size handmade stuff 🙂
A couple of pairs of cute shoes, an old mirror, a couple silver Christmas trees, and a black clutch purse.
Fun metal paper tray. Hopefully I can soon find time to clear my very messy desk and organize using this.
Another glimpse of the black clutch, a white bowl(not old but still cute and fun) a gold tray and another view of the Christmas trees.
Darling child’s bed. This will be used at the Springfield flea. I plan to make some sort of bedding and display pillows and other handmade stuff on it.
Oh the sacrifices we make for our children. I have loved these old concrete flamingos for years. Never seen any others like this, I don’t know where my friend got them. I have thought before that if she ever decided to get rid of them I hoped I was there to buy them. When I saw them with a price tag I sucked in a big breath and grabbed that tag as fast as I could. I didn’t even pause to see what the asking price was before pulling the tag and marking it ‘SOLD’. I feel a bit of a pang in my heart every time I look at them. Somehow it doesn’t feel quite right to see them in my herb garden. Because I know my friend still loves them too. But she loves her boy more and is doing whatever she can to bring him home. And if the flamingos were for sale and someone was going to buy them I’m happy it could be me. And maybe someday I’ll return them to her flower bed after I’ve enjoyed them for a while 🙂
A couple of fun purses. My teenager wanted the purple one. I found the yellow one and I wanted it so I got both – they were $1 each. Guess who has been using the yellow one? Mmmm-hmmmm that would be Miss Emma Kate. And the purple one is all forgotten and forlorn. Since Miss Emma is off having fun at ‘Alive’ the rest of this week maybe I’ll steal the yellow one back and use it for a few days.
I also bought a huge light too. Somehow it didn’t make it into the editing of these pics. You can see it a bit in the top to pics. I’m not exactly sure where we will end up hanging it but I’m excited about it.
That’s it for now! Since it’s been 2 weeks since this haul I’d say it’s about time for another one – think so? And it just so happens that another friend of mine is having a garage sale starting tomorrow! Woo-Hoo! Hopefully I don’t forget.

Wow Jill! What a haul! I’d say you found some treasures indeed. I think my favorite are the concrete flamingos, although it may be only because you mentioned that your friend still loves them and you’d return them some day. What a sweet friend you are. I also really like the mary jane boots…how cute! And the bed frame. Oh yeah, and the concrete bird bath. You’re a good picker! Best wishes to your friend on her adoption.

Seems to me you got to this sale AFTER me?? Am I mistaken? Because I can’t believe I *missed* all this cool stuff, lol! If you ever want to get rid of the prize ribbons, let me know! Or if you find more in your travels, pick them up for me 🙂 I’m wanting to re-do Liz’s room in a vintage horse kind of theme and want some prize ribbons for that.
Yowsers! You really made out well. LOVE the pink shoes and the flamingos. Hope that the adoption is quick and as smooth as possible.
Jill…you always find the BEST stuff!!

Thanks Julia – I remember the days when I was home with my little babies and I thought everyone else found all the great stuff. Now I’m out finding some great stuff – time sure flies and changes!
I love your finds! Bird bath and flamingo’s Score! Keep sharing. I love it!
Thanks Pam, I’m enjoying my finds!
Looks like many fun projects and supplies and fun stuff!
Thanks!
Those boots are so cute! I just love them. But the flamingos are amazing. Never saw any like em either and I live in Florida where Flamingo things (at least back in the day) used to be all the rage. I have concrete frogs and think they are pretty cool, but flamingos are amazing.

I know, I think the flamingos are great! I’ve never seen anything like them before either!
What great finds. I hope your friend the best uniting her family. (and on a side note I like your social media icons- are they a new style?)
Thanks Rachel, and yes my social media icons are new – I bought them on etsy and I’m quite likeing them!
I feel like I just went on a shopping trip with you, love those pink and orange shoes, and the flamingoes, I can already picture your cute photo of the rain boots as a vase!
Thanks Pam! I can’t wait to use those boots!
yes, more garage sales 🙂 don’t you just love finding cool stuff?
I do love finding cool stuff – it could become an addiction I think 😀
