I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been reading through my Bible starting at Genesis. Currently I am in Isaiah. But the book that has really resonated with me is Ecclesiastes. Have you ever read Ecclesiastes? Besides being full of wisdom I think Solomon must have had quite a streak of melancholy in his personality. And that resonates with me because my primary personality type is Melancholy. I also have said before that I really like my New Living Translation. It has really brought the Bible to life for me. It is the language we speak today and so much easier to understand for me than the King James version I grew up with. This evening I browsed through Ecclesiastes a bit and thought for this weeks Sunday post I’d share a few verses.
Here is another bit of wisdom that has impressed me as I have watched the way our world works. There was a small town with only a few people, and a great king came with his army and besieged it. A poor, wise man knew how to save the town, and so it was rescued. But afterward no one thought to thank him. so even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long. Better to hear the quiet words of a wise person than the shouts of a foolish king. Better to have wisdom than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much that is good. – Solomon
Oh that I might hear the wisdom from those who speak it and keep my heart and soul unblemished by the foolish shouts of this world.
Have a Blessed Sunday.
