Do you ever take the time to have breakfast on the porch?
Do you ever take time to just relax and enjoy the fresh new morning, listen to the birds, and revel in the warm sunshine?
I’m not much of a morning person – I seem to see a lot more sunsets than sunrises. I’ve resolved to go to bed earlier so I can begin my days earlier but it seldom happens. I’m a night owl I guess 😀
So for me, ‘Brunch’ has a much more melodious ring to it than ‘Early Morning Breakfast’. Whatever you want to call it – breakfast or brunch – if I can have it about 10:00 am I am all for it.
While I may not be a morning person, I really don’t lay in bed all morning. I’m usually up by 7:30, which I know is not early for a lot of you, but it works for me. Travis usually leaves for work by then, my girls all inherited my love for sleeping in, and the house is still and quiet for a couple of hours.
I get my coffee, my Bible, my laptop, and my phone and curl up on the couch to enjoy my quiet time. Right now I am spending time in Isaiah. I check my email. I read some blogs. I check facebook. Make sure my blog hasn’t disappeared 😉
I love the mornings I can spend a couple of hours this way. It doesn’t happen every day – some days I have deadlines looming and I have to limit my time to about 10 minutes. Forget the blogging and facebooking, sometimes my email doesn’t even get checked.
Some mornings I get a sweet interruption in the form of my cuddly, warm, 7-year old daughter, who is usually the first girl out of bed. Some mornings I get them up before they wake on their own. Some days we have appointments. Some days we need to get going on school before noon. Some days I just want them to learn that it can be a good thing to learn to get up early 😀
We rarely have breakfast on the porch, but I’m thinking a Breakfast Picnic just might be a fun summer thing to do. Or we could spread a quilt on the lawn in front of my Rusty Fence and enjoy the flowers. Which, by the way, I need to share again – you will not believe how big the flowers are already!
What would you serve if you had Breakfast on the Porch? Would you go all out and make a stack of pancakes and omelets on the side? Or would you just serve a loaf of fresh-baked bread and open a jar of jam?

We haven’t had breakfast on the porch, but we’ve enjoyed some snacks and some time just relaxing.
I want one of those springs. So cute with the flowers! I can never see the potential in something. It just looks like “old stuff”. 🙂
Loving your china and the bread looks delicious!
I have plenty of springs left – so funny how everyone thought I was crazy for wanting those springs 😉 I only sold 20 of them at Springfield for $3 each! I’ll make sure you get one – do you want yours painted white or left like it is?
When our porch project is completed I just might have breakfast on the porch. I might even scramble up some eggs for something special. Like Deborah, I want one of those springs! And thanks for showing us what can be done witht them. They are so neat. By the way, your photography is great. Love the pics.
I need to have Travis cut the rest of the springs apart for me – Grandpa had them bundled in sets – probably how he got them. I’d try to find the wire cutters myself but I might mess up the Garage – BAHAHAHAHA!
I don’t think I’ve ever had breakfast outdoors, but you’ve inspired me! One of the things on my summer bucket list will be to have breakfast on the patio with my boys! Your photos are really beautiful!
I have been thinking about doing just this. Making some good coffee grabbing a magazine and heading outside early. Your breakfast looks great! Enjoy your day!
Thanks Pam! Being outside on a beautiful morning makes it so worth being up early!
Don’t think I have ever had breakfast on the patio but coffee, YES! …and supper, every night unless it is raining. I have enjoyed seeing all your cool “spring” pictures, too – neat prop for sure!
That is so cool that you have a patio to eat on. We have some plans for some outdoor work – maybe eventually!
You styled this scene so beautifully! In the winter I love our back patio.
Thanks Laura – I envy you the ability to enjoy the outdoors in the winter! I’m coming to see you some winter – just you wait!
Oh that looks wonderful Jill! I love having breakfast out on the porch. It’s usually just a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal, but it’s lovely being able to sit out there and listen to the birds chirp and gaze at the flowers before the day sets in. Your little table looks so cozy. I’d sit down right next to it and join you! Do you take cream in your coffee? 🙂 Have a great day!
Debbie
I usually just have coffee for breakfast but when there is fresh baked bread you won’t hear me say no!
I’m joining Lisa and adding this to my summer bucket list. When my boys were in public school I would get them on the bus and then spend an hour or two in my wicker chair in the backyard having a cup of chai and doing my Beth Moore study. I remember very vividly waking up early one morning when I was a teenager and making blueberry pancakes for my family. I set up a plastic folding table & chair (all one piece contraption) and served them out there. Fun memory!
🙂 mmmm… a cup of chai and Beth Moore – I could go for that!
Breakfast on the porch sounds wonderful but so does the picnic in front of the fence. I am an early riser-and go to bed late….just one of those wired up people, I guess. I am so glad the girls sleep in and give you a bit of time to yourself- xo Diana
I hear that as you get older you take less sleep – so maybe eventually I won’t enjoy sleeping in so much? Ya think? At this point I can’t imagine!
I’m a night owl myself- but I had two earlier risers. There is a lot of coffee in my morning routine 🙂
🙂 Thank God for creating the coffee bean huh?!
Your pictures look so inviting. I would become a morning person for sure if I could sit, quietly, on the front porch. Grace wakes up bright and early and announces that she is hungry immediately. I am sure quiet mornings will be in the future but for now, I’ll admire yours.
You will have quiet mornings – after she heads out the door for school 😉 Unless you homeschool, but I’m sure even then you can have some quiet mornings when she hits the teens or even the preteens – seems they all end up wanting to sleep in at some age!
That breakfast looks so nice! I’m not a morning person either. During the summer, I’m even more of a night owl than usual since I get to sleep in every day. I sometimes take my coffee out on the front porch, but rarely eat breakfast out there. Sounds like a good idea though!
I don’t usually eat much for breakfast – just coffee – but it is fun to eat outside when the weather is lovely 🙂
I so love quiet alone time in the morning with my coffee and breakfast. I would love to eat on my back deck but my cat always wants to jump into my plate. 🙂 Breakfast food cooked and/or eaten outside is the best breakfast.
What is it about eating outside that makes things taste better? Have a wonderful weekend my friend!
perfect way to spend the early morning…your photos are beautiful!
Thanks Debra! I loved doing this photo shoot 🙂
What a sweet way to wake up…I envy your ability to sleep in a bit…I often wish I could do that but unfortunately I was born at 6 am and am often awake by then too.
Have a great weekend!
XO,
Christine
🙂 I was born at 6:45 in the evening. Maybe that’s what makes me a night owl?! Thanks so much for coming by and leaving a comment! I love comments 🙂
