My internet is finally back up and running. After hours on the phone, 3 different modems, and a tech out for an hour they finally changed a password and viola! it worked. Go figure. Why couldn’t they have tried that on Monday morning when I was on the phone with them the first time? Seriously. The tech didn’t do anything I hadn’t already done. Oh well, I’m just glad it’s back.
In the ‘down’ time I managed to get quite a few projects finished up for the Springfield flea market. One week from today we will be setting up there!! Woo-Hoo! I’m praying for clear skies and perfect temps 😀
This folding chair makeover was one of the projects I did this week.
Chalk Paint, wax, and some fun fabric make these so much cuter!
Here is the before. See the vinyl covered seat lying on the floor behind the chair? The gold vinyl was actually kind of cute in a vintage way, but one of them was torn. So they got covered and I love them this way! They will be going to the flea, and as much as I love them, I do hope they find a new home. I can’t keep everything and my husband is feeling overrun with chairs. I have a small obsession with chairs – I see a cute one that is cheap and I just can’t resist bringing it home for a makeover.
The after is so much better don’t you think?
The following photos are some sneak peeks of some other projects I worked on today —-
Think it’s crazy that I did all those in one day? Here is what I DIDN’T do – laundry, cooking, cleaning, school. And I didn’t go anywhere. It was projects only! And checking my email when I was finally online again of course!
And this is what my house is starting to look like. This is normal for before an event but it gets old in a hurry! I will be glad when it is time to load up and haul it all out 🙂
There are some fun things stacked in my dining room nook!
I might have to keep some of the baskets I found at Salvation Army yesterday!
Longaberger baskets CAN be painted and sky doesn’t cave in 😀 And vintage brass stencils make anything more fun!
More projects to finish tomorrow and on to pricing! Have a great weekend!

You did a wonderful job with the folding chairs, they look great!
Thanks Krystie! I love how they turned out too!
Your folding chairs look so cute!! Great transformation!
Thank you Ann! I really enjoyed working on these and was so happy with the way they turned out!
We missed you! Glad you made a HUGE dent in your projects, the folding chairs are absolutely charming!
Thanks Pam! I missed everyone too – and I’m still not finding much time to get caught up – if I am missing in the comment department I promise I will be back after the flea!
Those chairs are fantastic!
Thanks Rachel! I love them a lot – I’d keep them if I had a place to use them!
Yay, your internet is fixed!
I have never seen cane back folding chairs before. So cool! You made them so pretty! In fact they are the prettiest folding chairs I’ve ever seen!
I am loving the little peek of the striped slip cover. You have GOT to show us more!
Thanks Lisa! I will do my best to get some more photos taken either here or in the booth and I will be sharing! That little stripe covered stool may not be going with me though – it was my Grandpa’s and I gave it a makeover. My Mom loved it so I think I’m just going to give it to her for Mother’s Day!
wow! All in one day? that’s awesome!
When I am focused I can get a lot done – just remember that I’m not doing all the regular mom/wife stuff at the same time 😉
THOSE CHAIRS ARE SO NEAT!! Oh, sorry, did I yell at you? Wow! What a NEAT makeover!
You can yell nice things at me anytime 🙂 Just don’t yell at me to get my house cleaned up – even though it desperately needs it!
I love how your folding chairs turned out and especially like the color. I have an obsession for chairs too.
Have a great day!
Bev
Thanks Beverly! Chairs are just so much fun aren’t they?!
love the chairs.. I thought I couldn’t make it to springfield, then for 20 brief minutes this morning I thought I was going.. now I’m not again… That doesn’t seem fair! But who knows maybe it will change again.. and if so I NEED to know exactly where you are at =) Oh and I can’t believe there isn’t one outraged person yelling about the painting of longaberger.. teehee =)
Ok so how did you think for 20 minutes you were going and now you are not? babysitter fall through? Emma is planning to go with me or I’d offer her to babysit! i hope it works out – I’d love to see my in-real-life friends there!
Crumbs! Have you ever been busy! The chairs look gorgeous.
Thanks Jane! Yes, I have been busy with projects – you should see the state of my house! LOL!
Your chair make-over is awful cute! What’s your booth number at S’field, Jill? I’ll pop over to see ya. 🙂 Sue
I thought it was just me, missing your updates… Love the chairs and I have never seen the wicker-backed ones, let alone the neat update you gave them. Paint a Longaberger basket?!?!?!? Ok…now you can say you got one exclamation on that subject. I generally like the natural wicker, but I must say, your painted one looks really cute. I might get convinced.
Nice to know I was missed Jane! I’m so happy to be back online 🙂 I’m considering trying to strip the finish on a Longaberger basket to see if I can get it to a more natural color – I’m tired of the gold/orange – they match the china hutch I want to paint! LOL!
Hey Sue! The booth number we were given is 333 – we are in the Vintage Marketplace’s outdoor space. We have had a lot of trouble getting in contact with them and are still not for sure on the space – there were 2 available and the gal my friend talked to was going to call back, never did, and we haven’t been able to get hold of her! So we know we have a space and it is probably that number but won’t know for sure till we get our phone calls returned or till we get there. hope I get to see you!
Love the chair makeovers! What a lovely pile you have there, it looks strangely familiar to me…..My house before Paris Flea!
🙂 Someday I want a workshop that is separate from my house so I can have the mess all in a spot NOT in the middle of our living area! For now we do what we have to huh?!
Those little grey chairs with the polkadot fabric are darling! I’ve also painted a Longaberger basket before. Their original finish is very dated looking to me. Much better with the paint! Glad that your computer is working again. Looks like you’ll have a lot to sell at your show.
Thanks Kelly! I agree about the Longaberger! I have a few large baskets I want to keep and update either with paint or darker stain but I have been slowly selling most of them!
Very cute! I am new from southern charm! I would love for you to check out my blog and follow me back! Have a great day,Nicole
Hi Nicole, so happy you came by, commented, and followed! I’m headed over to check out your blog!
It’s a beautiful mess, if you ask me. I would love to see it all dolled up for the event. Glad you are back up and running.
Liz
Love those sweet little folding chairs! So cute! xo Kristin
WOW. You did all of that in a day?!?!? You are impressive and all the things you accomplished were beautifully done. I am drooling over that chandelier. I wish I lived close enough to come to any of your events.
Thanks Amy – I will be so exhausted after this weekend I probably will have to sleep for a week! LOL!
Your chairs look beautiful!!! Love the fun, whimsical look that the polka dots add, and love that gray color! Great job!!!
Thanks Maria! They were such fun to give a makeover!
These are really fabulous folding chairs to start with and then the redo is so pretty. Love the gray and the new fabric is perfect. I would love for you to link this up to my Inspire Me party that is ongoing. http://www.astrollthrulife.net/2013/05/165th-inspire-me-tuesday.html

Awesome makeover ! Totally love it 🙂
