Before Easter a friend asked if I could make a couple banners for her that said ‘He is Risen’. Burlap or Ribbon perhaps. I didn’t have any burlap and didn’t really have any ribbon that was screaming “write something one me!”
But I did have some drop cloth scraps and they did seem to be begging to have something printed on them.
So I frayed the edges, printed the words on printer paper, held the paper and drop cloth scrap up to a window, traced the words onto the scraps, painted one, used a sharpie on the other, and then added some bling to one.
The one I painted I also folded and pressed on each side and added a pearl topped hat pin on each side for her to attach it to her wreath.
I haven’t seen how she used them – was thinking I should have taken the time to run over and snap some pics.
It was really quick and easy to make. Don’t throw out all those drop cloth scraps, you can use them for all kinds of fun stuff! For another fun way to use drop cloth scraps go see what my friend Daniela did with hers. And while you are there, browse her blog, Frugal Ain’t Cheap. She has all kinds of great frugal tips that are fun, easy, cute, and save you money!
What have you made with drop cloths??

Love! I think we need to start making commissions on the # of drop cloths being sold! Ha ha!
🙂 so funny Melaine, I’ve thought of that too! I’ve also wondered if I could wholesale them from the company that makes them!! I also hope that the price doesn’t go up if they figure out what we are doing with them 🙂
So pretty and a clever use of scraps!!!
Such a great idea! I love dropcloths and save all my scraps. You nailed it again!

I love using drop cloths as table cloths and such. Your banner looks great. Love the way you frayed the edges.
These turned out just great! I really wanting to make something out of a dropcloth myself.. . not sure what though. My mom is just finishing up making slipcovers for a thrifted wingback chair and loveseat. She has made slipcovers before but she did these by watching MMS videos on her iPhone!
I saw those this weekend while keeping her kids while they went to convention! Didn’t know you had made them but thought they were adorable! You’ll have to have her give you a couple pics becuase they really were super cute!
