I am tired. Therefore my brain can’t seem to find all the things it has thought of blogging about.
Today I (finally) took my machines in for some service. The desperately needed some TLC from the service guy. Some deep cleaning and a good oiling – a few repairs. My sewing table looked so empty and forlorn when I left, machines tucked into the back of my car.
I mentioned, in my interview with Janome, that the main reason I shopped Janome first when I upgraded, was because of the service I received with my first Janome. Same place I went today to have my machines serviced. They have always done their best to have me back in business as soon as possible. A couple of days usually.
Around 11 this morning I dropped them off and headed to my Mom’s for the day, to play with her new sewing machine and serger. I made one of my girl’s Easter dress and cut out another one. We went to Wendy’s for lunch. Travis came over after work and picked up pizza on his way through town. YAY for not having to cook at all 🙂
My girls worked on crafts, played legos, played with Grandma’s playmobile set, and on Grandma’s new exercise bike. They had a ball. I had fun with her new machines. I need a new serger. I think I want a BabyLock 😀
I thought briefly of what I might do the next couple days with my machines missing.
At 4:20 this afternoon I returned a missed call from Birt’s Sewing Center. They had a question about replacing a needleplate or not. and…. MY MACHINES WERE READY TO GO!
How’s that for service? I was so impressed. Seriously! And I was still in the area and able to pop in quick and pick them up. I also purchased a wing needle to do some hemstitching. Oh the ideas swirling in my head. Now to find time amidst all the custom orders to be creative.
Hope your day was great. Oh yes, if you are looking to purchase a sewing machine? – I’ve got the place for you. Great machine – great service. I am over-the-moon-impressed. And my sewing table is happy and full again tonight 🙂 Tomorrow is a new day. And I have piano practice in the morning! Guess I better go spend some time with Miss Piano before I fall asleep.
Super hooray on not having to cook and hooray for great service and having your machines back! You didn’t even miss a day of stitching, especially since you had Mom’s machines to try out!
Amen! The only thing that would have made it better would have been you and your kids being there too. And Matthew joining us all for dinner along with Travis!
What a lovely blog! Saw you over at Timewashed and Amy Kinser’s All Things Home. I love to sew, too. Gosh, you’re talented, Jill. I look forward to visiting more. 🙂

Awww, thanks Susan! You made my day!
Wow- It sounds like you had a wonderful day playing at your Mom’s house (and so did the kids). Hope you share the girl’s Easter dresses with us when they are done. That sounds like wonderful turn-around service on your machine! WOW- xo Diana
We did all have a very good day Diana! And I am very impressed with my sewing machine servies 🙂 🙂
Jill – Thanks for sharing your day. Did you get the frosty at Wendy’s? I always get their junior bacon cheese with fries. And, a frosty!!! 🙂 I wish I can sew. I used to…a little bit. Very basic….never could do zippers.
xo
L
Hi Loi! My girls all got frostys! I was cold so I didn’t get one – if I am cold eating something cold isn’t my first impulse 🙂 I had the fish and fries. I do love their frostys though! Sewing isn’t all that hard – come to Ohio – I’ll show you how! Even zippers aren’t intimidating if you know a few tricks to making it easier!
What a fun peek into your day! I’d love to have a serger some day. Still learning how to use my new machine. And, your pictures are so lovely!
Sergers are amazing. Mine is pretty basic and I just use it to finish edges and the occasional rolled hem. You can get one that does that for not a ton of money!
What gorgeous photos Jill – I need to HAVE that typewriter ( I’ll take the flower that’s on it too actually )
Happy to hear everything was done so quickly – happier to hear you didn’t have to cook lol
XOX
🙂 Hi Suzan – I have several of the flowers so I would share with you but I am pretty attached to the typewriter and it’s the only one I have. But if I see another one for as good a deal as I got on this one i’ll nab it for ya! Wonder what shipping to Canada would be on one of these? 😀
Sounds like you and the girls had a great day!! Yeah for sure great service….especially in this day and age!! Now get ta sewin’!
LOL
🙂 I’ll be sewing later today Nic – taking my 7 year old in for a hair cut – she is donating it to locks of love!
It was a lovely day! Always a good day when the grands come (and their Mom, too!). Let’s do it again!! Enjoyed your pics a lot.
🙂 Thanks again for sharing your machines!
What a lovely glimpse into your day and your life through beautiful pictures. How wonderful that your machines were serviced so quickly! Back to work 🙂
Yep, Amy, it is back to work! Gotta get crackin’ I’m over-my-head with projects!
Hi Jill, yay for having your machines back so quickly! I’d be willing to bet that a lot of machines aren’t brought in nearly as often as they should be because serious seamstresses can’t bear the thought of doing without them for even a day. I know I’m guilty of that. Can’t wait to see the Easter dress you made for your daughter. You’re quick! And I’m so jealous that you were able to find a wing needle locally. Where did you get it? I’ve been looking for one for a while, but I think I’m going to have to order it online. They just don’t carry the range of sewing implements they used to, with so many of the fabric stores moving into the crafts area. Oh well…I’m just rambling now. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.
Debbie
You have that right Debbie. It’s really best for a machine to get some TLC every 6 months or so. Doesn’t happen here!
Just reading this post – I use the same people to service my machines and have always had great service – very speedy and quality….the only problem is that they can be so on the ball, you never get to that ‘to do’ list you were going to do while your machines were being serviced! Guess that’s a good problem to have:)
Have a blessed weekend!
I know! i love the fast service 🙂 It is sort of funny when you think you’ll get other stuff done but you don’t have time to!
