These days I feel as though I am in limbo – just waiting. Waiting for Spring to arrive in full force. No more of this teasing. No more snow coming down so thick it blinds you and the next moment the sun is shining. No more cold wind and icy rain.
I am waiting. Waiting for warm sunshine. Warm breezes. The sweet smell of new grass. The constant song of the robin.
It is coming. The signs are there. The sunshine that drives the snow showers into hiding for a few moments. The day here and there that grows warm. The slant of the sun that is a little less to the South and a little more Northward. A few robins willing to risk the dipping temps. Spring will soon be upon us. Hurrah!
While I am waiting I am organizing my spring/summer calendar. Can you believe I am marking things in May and June? And considering some tentative plans for July. At the rate it is going we need to schedule a summer vacation trip to see our family in Kansas asap or it might not make it onto the summer schedule!
While I am waiting I am knocking out some projects and accumulating more. Listing some new items in my etsy shop. Contemplating the best place to spend advertising money for more exposure. It’s a competitive market out there – so much talent, so many great things. It’s easy to get lost in the great creative sea of etsy.
Yesterday while I waited for Spring to arrive I made a dress for a sweet friend’s daughter to wear in a wedding this Saturday. And while I was waiting I took my nine-year-old to an orthodontist appointment. And then we went shopping. She loves the one-on-one time with Mom. And she always gets something too 🙂 Pants at Salvation Army and candy and mouthwash at Wal-Mart. And some cool fabric for a skirt at Jo-Anns. She called it a good day. In the evening I cut out one of my girls Easter dresses. I am so excited about the fabric I have for these and cannot wait to show their dresses to you.
Today while I wait for Spring I am going to Bible Study. And I might work on Easter dresses.
There are 8 chairs I need to slipcover while I am waiting for Spring. They just might run into actual ‘spring-is-here’ time though 🙂 One of my favorite times to sew is when the windows can be open and the sweet warm air of Spring is wafting in. Oh but it’s hard to wait!
What do you do while you wait for Spring?
Happy ‘Waiting-for-Spring’ if you live in the midwest. If you live in one of the areas where Spring has already arrived soak up some sun for me today please! 😀
Sew a Fine Seam
Oh, Jill! You are giving me the fever! xo Kristin
🙂 Hopefully Spring will be in full force for all of us soon Kristin!
You have such lovely photos, Jill, and your sentiments are so timely. Well, the “waiting for Spring” is a bit wasted on us “desert rats,” as Spring has definitely sprung here in the AZ desert! We are already into the upper 80’s and creeping into the 90’s — YIKES! We are quickly planning and planting gardens and pots of flowers to get them established before the heat really sets in. I would gladly share some of this “blissful” time with you if I could!
Most winter days I wonder why I wasnt’ born in the desert!! I think the 80’s sounds delightful! Although we usually get humidity with it and i don’t love that but at this point I’ll take it!
I spring clean while waiting for spring. If I wait till spring to spring clean, I don’t get to enjoy spring as much. 🙂 How many times can I say spring in a short comment? 😉 The sun shining out there today helps with the waiting!
If you need more to do you are welcome to spring clean for me 😀 But I’m afraid you might die of shock if you saw the true state of things here!
I think you do more than the average person does as they wait for spring to arrive 🙂
Ha! I am so UNmotivated all winter that I have to get busy and do it all in about 2 weeks once the motivation returns! Not necessarily what I’d recommend but hey whatever works! LOL!
Lovely words, thoughts and photos to get us ready for spring, Jill! As soon as the last frost is over, I’m taking all 70-ish of my houseplants outside for a good washing!!! 🙂 Cheers, Loi
Thank you Loi! I’m a bit jealous of your recent buying trip! Someday I want to shop Europe for fabric and vintage and just everything!
I dream of taking pictures, while waiting for Spring! 😉
Oh I’m dreaming of you taking my girls pics!
So happy to have found your beautiful blog via Timewashed. Such beautiful photos again today.
Thank you Amy, I’m so glad you found me too! Your blog is beautiful!
Wow -You have some great ideas and plans for Spring, Jill. You are way ahead of me. I feel like I am in limbo, too, sometimes and need to give myself a quick boot so I get going- xo Diana
It feels good to be busy again and actually want to be busy! Winter is very hard for me to make it through and I don’t stay very motivated.
Oh it still feels terribly far away! I sewing spring dress for Easter, and planning which cable knit tights and long sleeve tops I will layer under them!
Oh Rachel, I know! I loved last year – Easter was warm and sunny and no sweaters were needed!
It keeps teasing us here in Denver, 72 one day and snow the next! I’m actually looking forward to opening my windows and spring cleaning! 🙂
I’m ready for a 72 degree day! It’s been months….
This is why we come down here to Ga. for a couple months in late winter. Here in the Peach state, it is “spring” the first of March, with their frost-free date Mar. 10. While we are here, the redbuds bloom, the azaleas are full of bloom, some of the other spring shrubs are blooming, and the weather is warming, with 73* predicted for today (and 56* next Sunday…sounds like Ohio). Pansies and flowering Kale, along with cyclymin and ageratum are filling the flowerbeds and pots. I have “spring” here, and come home the first of April, and it will be beginning to be warmer and things blooming at home. Makes me feel like I have an extra month or so of Spring. Folks ask why we wait until so “late” to come south…Spring is why!!!
Someday I hope we can get away for at least a couple weeks each winter. so far we just can’t afford it. Glad you can – how fun to enjoy spring twice every year!
Hi Jill! I remember when I used to make all my girls their Easter dresses. Aahhh…those were the days. I can’t wait to see what yours look like. I don’t know how you manage to do it all so beautifully. We had a teaser day last week with temps reaching 70, but it’s back to the cold temps again today. They’re even calling for a possibility of a snow mix. Yuck.
Debbie
Hi Debbie,
Today is sunny but COLD and windy. I went out and cut my pussy willow and about froze! But at least the sun is giving me bright light for some more photo shoots of my dining room tablescapes and a couple chairs I just slipcovered!
Hi Jill, lovin’ all your wonderful Spring-y touches!!
Thank you Debra! I’m excited you came by and commented! Blessings on your week!
Oh Jill your photos are simply stunning! And I completely understand that feeling of being in limbo. We may have lots of signs of Spring all around us but here in the Pacific NW we only catch glimpses of them through the long gray days. I’m grateful that we’ve had quite a bit of sunshine so far this year though! I absolutely love your Spring decor! 🙂
Vanessa
Vanessa that is high praise coming from you! You totally made my day – I read your comment last night right before I fell into bed and I think I smiled all night long! Thanks so much!
While you waiting for Spring I’m desperately waiting for Autumn to arrive here in Australia! It’s been a long, hot and wet summer here so I really need a cool change!
I hope your Spring is beautiful.
Best wishes,
Natasha in Oz
Hi Natasha! I need to come see you during our miserable winters it sounds like! At least I wouldn’t be cold!!! LOL!
Love your spring decor! Great touches! Thanks for sharing at my Twirl & Take a Bow Party! Have a great week.

spring seems a long way off here in Minnesota. I love the spring displays and your photos are amamzing.
Thank you Robin! It is so cold here today and the forcast doesn’t have any warmth in sight yet.
Jill, your photos are so beautiful! I’m ready for Spring. She’ll be here before we know it. Thank you for sharing this at the Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again at the bash! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
Thanks Kathryn! I’m ready for spring too – as I watch yet another March snow storm come down!
