Fall decor is showing up all over blogland. It is making me feel rather behind the times. For one, I’m still a little in denial that Summer is over already. Also, I really haven’t had time to do a lot of ‘fluffing’ lately. And I don’t really go all out for fall decor anyway. But I do have a few acorns I get out in the fall. And I have some lovely dried Hydrangea this year 🙂 On Saturday I did get at some desperately needed cleaning and while I was at it I put away the white faux flowers I had in old bottles and got out the faux acorns! It is fun how just some simple touches can totally change the look and feel of decor.
I’ve had this acorn for years. It found a spot this year in this sweet little scalloped dish. The dish is new to me – remember I said I forgot our anniversary? Travis and I did go out later that week! He took me to a restaurant I absolutely love and don’t get to go to very often. In fact he usually cringes when I mention the name La Piazza!! It is expensive but the food is awesome. So he took me there and then on the way home he stopped at the local antique shop right in our little town and I found this footed dish and liked it so he bought it for me! It was less than $5 so that made up for the very-much-more-than $5 dinner we had!
It’s such a simple thing but that’s ok with me!
I have contemplated doing something different here with the curtains but haven’t been struck with the exact thing I should do. Any suggestions?
This little wood nut is a fun piece to pop in for a touch of fall.
I like using old postcards turned to the back side with the old beautiful writing showing. And this branch storage box is another fun fall accent.
And of course my beloved typewriter! I want to put some fun old paper in it but haven’t taken the time to dig out just the right thing.
Dried Hydrangea and old croquet balls.
More dried Hydrangea stuck in a pot that was already there. This whole shelf is in dire need of a complete makeover. I’ve been using it to store all the cool old frames I’ve happened upon this summer and it now looks like a storage shelf instead of a shelf in a living room that holds decor.
And a little vignette I put on a cake stand in the center of the dining room table. It looked great Sat. night and Sunday morning. Till last night the table was covered with The Teenagers craft project, a stack of clothes my hubby decided to get rid of, my camera, and a laptop. This morning found me adding my laptop and some paperwork to the mix so when I snapped these photos I decided you really didn’t want to see the whole table 😉 So I cropped it all out – just for you!
Is your house decorated for fall?
I have some lovely hydrangea bouquets that give my house a look of fall. And that is thanks to my dear daughter! I like all your acorns and that old typewriter is just the best accent ever! You have the touch, that’s for sure.
Your hydrangeas look great Mom! Isn’t it fun to have flowers in your own flower beds to bring inside! I love how hydrangeas dry and can be used all winter!
well – you know my house isn’t decorated for Fall. But I have NOT fallen off the face of the Earth, Jill!! I promise. I love that acorn, by the way. And one of the two bathrooms is officially finished!! (no fluffing – but all work by contractor is done). I find your beautiful serene pictures inspiring. i WILL get on top of this crazy house and get back to projects!! i WILL!!
breida
I know how long those projects can take Breida! We’ve added a bathroom here and completely tore the other one out and redone it! It will be so fun to see your after pics – you will have tons of stuff to blog about when you get some time!
Your festive touches are going to have you in the mood in no time! Could your little corner be more charming, I think the curtains are perfect just as they are! And, that typewriter…no words!!
Thanks Pam! I like the curtains too but I seem to want to change things up a lot! And they have been hanging there for several years. And they didn’t turn out quite like I planned in the beginning which is probably why I’ve been thinking about something different. But until I decide exactly what I want I won’t do anything!
This weekend I had the thought that I ought to get my few fall things out, but I haven’t made it happen yet. We’ll see…
I like your acorns and it does make me think I should go dig mine out!
🙂 Time to pull them out sis! Fall decor can be so fun!
With each additional glimpse into your home, I find it more and more charming and well decorated.
How does the teenager feel about you referring to the typewriter as ‘yours’?
Thank you Amy! If The Teenager hears me call it ‘mine’ she emphatically says it is ‘HERS’!! LOL! I hope to be showing more of my home soon! Finishing up some projects for a big reveal hopefully. Might still be a little on all of it but I can feature some of it anyway!
Very beautifully done! I don’t know what you could do differently with the curtains offhand, but I thought they were a great touch of drama and that they show off the height of the room just as they are. Maybe an addition of some texture or color or some sort of bauble to embellish the tie. Then you wouldn’t have to worry if you didn’t like it or it wasn’t just THE thing. You could change the ties or accents to the ties quite easily at will. Such a sweet little spot and so many great touches throughout your home.

Thank you Liz! You are so sweet – I love your comments! I think I’ve always wanted the curtains to hit the floor and they don’t 🙁 Maybe that’s why I keep thinking I need to do something different there!
Lovely touches of autumn and perfect for your home. I see you have one of Jami’s tags. I love them!
Thanks Ann! Yes, Jami sent me the tags I have when she sent along a sewing project I helped her out with. I love them! I will be getting some that say ‘Sew a Fine Seam’ sometime this fall 🙂
that all looks great! i love those curtains in that sweet nook area. maybe change out the tiebacks for an easy update? regardless, that’s an awesome sunny spot!
Thank you Ali! I do change out the ties now and then – haven’t done that for awhile. I should find a fun autumnish ribbon and change it up!
This is my type of fall. It doesn’t look too warm. 🙂 Lovely touches!
Thanks Laura! I enjoy fall decor once I get at it! But I’m always sad to see summer go. I know you aren’t – yours is just a bit hotter than ours!! LOL!!
