Linen is my favorite fabric to work with these days. Vintage linen, fine quality new linen, linen blends. I also love ruffles – they are just so dressy and fun. You can add a ruffle to almost anything for a little touch of feminine bling. So when I received a message a couple of weeks ago from a lady wanting linen and ruffles I was, of course, delighted! She had seen this dress in my etsy shop and she wanted one like it in a tan linen, and she wanted the dark grey leggings to go with it.
I was thrilled with her eye for a great looking outfit – I am in love with these colors together. My girlies just may have to have this combination for Christmas dresses.
My friend who made the original pattern had to scramble to get me a pattern a couple of sizes bigger. I did check with her first before I took on the project! She came through with flying colors – a great pattern that went together beautifully and looks just darling.
Still using my ribbon labels but the supply is dwindling rapidly. Time to order some new clothing tags!
I did get some size tags ordered for my ruffled leggings. So much handier for me and the Mama’s who put them on their little girls!
For the back of this one I added buttons instead of a zipper. I didn’t have a zipper on hand, and I forgot to add the seam allowance to the center back. So I added a placket and buttons. And I really love the look – goes well with the linen.
I packed it up and shipped it off with about a day to spare. They needed it by the 31st and it should be there by the 30th. Priority Mail with delivery confirmation and insurance. That will usually make them take good care of it!

Linking up!!
I am so in love with this pattern. Have been since I first saw it. Might have to cave for E….
🙂 Not sure the pattern will be made to go that big but I can always ask!!!!
Love it. I think I might have spotted one of your creations on Ella Sunday, meant to ask Annette if it was yours. Flax colored linen with a ruffle down the front? I think that was one of my favorite dresses you ever made for your girls.
Yes, Jenni, I made that dress for Ella for her baby shower gift 🙂 So glad she can wear it!
Jill, This outfit is just adorable! Love the fabric and how it’s paired with those adorable leggings. Sure wish I was the little girl getting them! 🙂
Thank you sue! I really liked how it looked together, it was so fun to put this together!
What a sweet set I love it.
Thank you! I’m liking it a lot too!
Beautiful! I like the buttons too. And the leggings. And ruffles. I like ruffles….even though my other half does turn his nose up at them. 😉
🙂 I thought of you when I titled the post Ruffles and Linen! Still think it would be funny to give you a ruffled skirt for Christmas! But I really like my Brother-in-law so I probably won’t try to get on his bad side!!!
This dress is so sweet and beautiful!
Thank you Annie! I’m rather in love with this pattern too! There is another version I haven’t tried yet, but it’s on my list! It is just as adorable and fun!
You have exquisite taste and flawless execution.
Thanks Amy! I have a wonderful friend who has a ton of talent when it comes to pattern making! I’m so happy to be working with her!
As a mom of boys…I would love this outfit for ME.
🙂 Kellie, I’ve had a lot of women say they wish they could wear these ruffled leggings! And I say why not?! Of course it would take a good deal mor fabric to make them for adults but I’m thinking on a way to just add the ruffled fabric to the bottom of a pair of adult size leggings. Wear with a skirt and make sure the ruffles go up far enough to be under the hemline of the skirt! What do you think?? Should we try it out?!
I need to find some leggings that actually fit. They discontinued my old brand. I’m very tall, so it is hard to find leggings that will work for me.
I really dislike when they discontinue something I like. I hope you find something that works! I always wanted to be tall!
Jill! Not only do I love linen, I live in it from April 1st to October 1st. (So does our home!)
This ensemble is brilliant. You are amazing!
