Whew. What a week! I am SO glad it is Friday! Well, technically it is still Thursday evening but I’m writing this for tomorrow, and it is fast approaching midnight. My eyes are propped open with toothpicks and I’m barely keeping my head off the keyboard but I thought I’d try to get a new post up. Just for you, peeps!! Leave me lots of comments that I can read through when my Friday is over and I’m once again about to fall asleep while walking the last mile of the day!! Here is a little of what I’ve been up to this week besides VBS every evening. ( I am the photographer at VBS this year. It is amazing how worn out taking over 800 pictures in 4 nights can make you)
This week on Wednesday a sweet young friend and I hosted a ‘Photography Party’. I will blog about it all in more detail later but here are the invitations I sent out for this. We invited the DSLR owners we know to get together and share what we have learned and ask questions of the more experienced! (I have since learned there are some more DSLR ownersout there we didn’t know about – next time I will try harder to find out who all has a DSLR camera – I promise!)
The invites were made mostly from stuff I had on hand. I had only black card stock so I printed the invites on copy paper. Then I couldn’t find the double-sided tape and I didn’t want to use a glue stick so I used my cute stapler to staple the paper to the card stock. Added ribbon just for a fun detail.
Still couldn’t find the glue stick when I was ready to put the details on the back so I used my gold Japanese Washi tape to fasten them on.
And since I didn’t have the right size envelopes for the invites, and I didn’t want to run to town just to get some I dug through my stash and found these bags to use for envelopes. A couple Cavallini stamps dressed them up a little 🙂
Technically these weren’t made this week but they were made within the last 8 or 9 days. I sent two of them off to the Ironstone Nest – one for her to keep and one for her to give away. If you haven’t entered to win it yet you should head over there now!!
And these boxes appeared on my porch last Friday! So now school can commence in full force. This week was our 4th week back at school work. The main thing we did was math along with a couple other things here and there. Now it is all here and we can get at it!! Well, right now we have cousins here from out-of-state so we will be taking a mini break. But that is one of the benefits of homeschooling – we make our own schedule. And a very flexible schedule it is 🙂
What kept you busy this week?
Love the idea for a photo party! How fun to learn with friends! 😀
(We had VBS this week also! Very exhausting, but a lot of fun! :D)
It was lots of fun Stephanie, I will blog about it more soon! I agree wholeheartedly about VBS!
You and Belle did a GREAT job with the party! It was SO much fun! I am so new at this it was mostly over my head but when I got home I realized I learned several things about my camera. thanks again!
Thanks Melanie! It was fun to do and I hope we can do another one! I learned some stuff too and look forward to playing with my camera more!
What a clever and busy mom you are! The thought of home schooling my kids, way back when, would have scared me to death! Certainly would have been a way to go back and review all I had forgotten!
Love the invites, too! I’m a paper crafter and love it!
Thanks Barbara! Home schooling has its pros and cons! Some days are easier to focus on the pros and other days all you see are the cons!
I found you at Laura’s party! How have I missed you? I’m headed to the Ironstone Nest and your Etsy shop!

Thanks Lynne! So many blogs, so little time – LOL!! Thanks so much for coming by and also for heading over to The Ironstone Nest!
Those invitations are darling … love the idea of a DSLR photography party! I could really use one. Just got mine and I’m still on auto!
🙂
Linda
🙂 Thanks Linda! I still pretty much use auto too but I’m taking notes so when I have time I can play!!
Those invites are adorable! Looking forward to the details of your photography part…sounds fun.
Thanks Jami! I can’t wait to get some editing of photos done too. I have over 1200 vbs pics to wade through and edit – plus some videos!!
Good thing you had “nothing’ on hand so you ended up with such fantastic invites. I would love to hear what the party was all about. Keep us posted!
Liz
Thanks Liz! I will definitely be posting more about it – hopefully sometime this weekend 🙂
Cute. Cute. and more Cuteness. I would’ve jumped up and down to receive that invite in the mail! So maybe you should host an online blog party for those of us DSLR owners that live so far away! 😉 Just something to think about!…
Hmmmm. An online party. Now how could we do that? I will have to think about that one 🙂 Great idea!
The Photography Party sounds fun! I have SO much to learn about our camera. Please tell me you are going to do a blog post with your pictures!
I will definitely be posting pics of our party! That is if I can wade through the 1300 plus photos on my sd card and find them amidst all the vbs pics!!!!
I wish I lived closer because I want to follow you around for the day…or week…or just forever. You and your friends do such amazing and fun things together. I am always impressed. AND, I have my fingers crossed that one of those beautiful pillows will be mine 🙂
Ha Ha!! Just remember Amy, if you followed me around you would see all the not so fun stuff too! Like laundry and cooking and school and… – the blog just shows all the fun pretty stuff – most of the time anyway 🙂
But I would love to have you come over for a day – or a week!
OMGosh, those invitations are SO cute! And the bags you just ‘whipped up’?? You are so talented!!
Susan
Thanks – they were fun to make!
Love, love, love those clever invitations and envelopes! You come up with the CUTEST ideas!
Thanks Pam! It was rather fun to create it all with just what I had on hand instead of running off to get a bunch of supplies just for that project!
