I have this cupboard in my living room. I found it several years ago at a sale in my hometown. It was (and still is) rather rough and my husband has never been thrilled with it. But it was cheap! And I used birthday money to buy it. It was an old yellowed yellow when I bought it. It stayed that way for a few months, then I painted it chocolate brown. But I soon got tired of brown. I wanted WHITE! So a couple years ago around Thanksgiving time, right before I got my Christmas decor out, I painted her white.
Then we got the piano. And I didn’t like the two together. But I haven’t got rid of the cupboard. So the cupboard got neglected. Very much so. All the attention it ever got was to be piled with one-more-thing-that-didn’t-have-a-home! Until today.
Yesterday my friend, Marcy, came over and helped me with a photo shoot of the handmade stuff I hope to soon have in my etsy shop. We also photographed the great stuff she makes too! We pretty much tore the place apart staging and using stuff for props. Today I decided that instead of just piling everything back on this cupboard and turning a blind eye again I was going to style it so I liked it. And I do like it! Even though I do still think the room is too cluttered with the piano right beside the cupboard. I will just show you pics of the cupboard and we can all pretend there isn’t another large piece of furniture sitting too close to it!
I used this and that from around my house and rearranged till I was happy with it. (I also now have another ‘declutter‘ pile started!)
Old fan found at an estate sale last summer. I hadn’t really used it anywhere yet, just stuck it on a shelf in my sewing room. It was fun to have it to put in this space.
I bought this vintage film holder from Miss Mustard Seed . I actually bought it to give to one of my best friends who has a photography studio. But I got kind of attached to it! Tonia if you are reading this – you don’t really like it anyway do you?? If you do I guess I can revert to my original plans 🙂
Tiny dominoes and a small scalloped ironstone bowl. Garage sale find on the dominoes and Betty’s Antiques on the bowl 🙂
Large cone of baker’s twine from Besotted Brand. Crown is from back in the days of McMaster and Storm‘s brick and mortar. Old science lab beaker was a gift from Kara.
So what do you think? Did I lavish enough attention on the old cupboard to last for a little while anyway?? Hopefully it feels at least a little bit loved again.

I am seriously in love with how you styled this cupboard. I love the interesting things you filled it with. It looks clean and eclectic and interesting (with a touch of humor-shine). Job well done.
Thank you Amy! I’m liking it pretty will too – maybe I will have to keep it instead of trying to sell it!
See-you CAN NOT get rid of the cuboard!
