Before my declutter frenzy my school/sewing/computer/craft room had become the pile-everything-that-doesn’t-have-a-designated-spot room. It was beyond livable. I turned a blind eye for weeks, getting school done and not much else. Something had to give. I knew I had some serious work to do in that room even before I read Money Saving Mom’s book. After reading her book I started with that room. Here is what it looked like BEFORE.
Pretty awful huh? The cupboard in the middle of the room got moved there right before the declutter of this room started. So we weren’t working around it like it looks like.
And here is one corner of the room now. I did declutter and clean up the whole room but only took pictures of the one corner.
Ahhhh. Isn’t that so much better? Let’s look at it again!!
The cupboard with the window for a door I have had for several years. I bought it at the Springfield Flea and it had been in my kitchen ever since. I did all kinds of creative fixes to hide what was in the cupboard while it was in the kitchen. Different decorative paper, and one time I used a vintage tablecloth to line the inside of the window.
Lately I had been thinking I needed to do something about a place to store my fabric. And I always wanted to use this cupboard for something that would be fun and pretty to see behind that door. I didn’t really want to give it up in my kitchen because it was very much needed. But I decided that by getting rid of stuff and getting creative I could make do without it. It’s not ideal without it in the kitchen, but it’s working.
I like seeing all my fun fabric stacked up just waiting to be made into something really cool.
Basket of ribbon on top of cupboard.
I really must start making some stuff out of this fabric. The cupboard is full. Where will I put more when I find fun fabric??!!
Now I need to get pics of the whole room for more ‘after’ shots. I will have to clean it up again first but it’s just the normal pick-up-and-put-away from a week of school 🙂
And just for fun a close-up of the craft kit.
nothing like a clean craft room to spark creativity!:) It looks great!
It always feels so good when you clean and organize any room; but probably more so in a room with a lot of fabric, paper, etc. I’m not overly crafty and I keep all my stuff in a spare closet, but it would be nice to have an actual room to create in! Yours is looking pretty darn good.
Just wanted to say that a blog format that has a “click to read more” doesn’t bother me, anymore than seeing in my reader that I need to click on the actual blog to read the complete post. I will read someone I like, no matter how she has her blog or reader settings set up. 🙂
Re: Pinterest – hasn’t it always directed someone to the actual blog page of a photo if someone pins it from the original source? Actually, I stopped using Pinterest because I think it has conflicting rules re: copyright laws- I now use Clipix.

It looks great A. Jill! I am thinking that needs to be done in my office, talk about piles! The biggest pile would be ironing though….. maybe that’s why I keep putting it off lol
So pretty and functional! How nice to have a room dedicated to your sewing/crafts!
Hurray for you dear! You did a great job and the room looked brighter and lighter after the clean up! 🙂
Glad to know that there is someone else that clutters and collects yardsticks!!
